Independent Consultants around the country throw parties and share their love the product with others in order to get sales.

Big Yellow Box business opportunity includes a substantial 25% commission on all sales. One of the highest commissions I’ve seen so far for this type of opportunity. They give you cash bonuses for recruiting others to sell the product, a selling bonus, plus Big Yellow box has frequent contests whereby you can win prizes. A Fabulous trip, this year it is to Mexico.

Their back-end (Corporate) support to help you grow your business includes weekly product knowledge information via a newsletter, which includes marketing and party tips. They also offer all the tools for you book your parties. Big Yellow Box encourages you to attend training events throughout the year. Both national and regional conferences in the spring and fall.

The products that you will be selling at your parties are grouped into categories. Products that create, inspire, connect, celebrate and learn. After reviewing their product line I was surprised to learn that some of their products are geared towards home decorating.

To join this opportunity, Big Yellow Box offers a starter kit for US $199 (This is considered to have a retail value of $400). This may A seem a little steep for most, however they offer you the option of earning you kit. By hosting a party, you can earn hostess points and apply those points towards your start-up kit. Your starter kits include; post-card party invites, Thank you cards, opportunity brochures, hostess planner, hostess planners, order forms, catalogs, a minimum of eight kits to make and display and more. They also offer a free website with your starter kit, but not a on-line product catalog, they don’t allow for orders on-line. You have to contact a consultant in your area to order products. I found that the price of their kits vary from $15 and up. Very reasonable and competitive pricing considering you get everything in the kit to make the product along with detailed instructions. I am comparing the pricing to kits you can purchase in Joann Fabrics and Michaels.

To help you grow your business, Big Yellow Box’s corporate office will send leads to you, however they are very strict on how they send them to. Typically you must have $1200 sold in the previous month and have a sizable down-line to get on the corporate lead mailing list. The reason they have this policy is because it is in the Big Yellow Box’s best interest for the lead to be passed onto someone who has proved their commitment to the company. Haven’t reached that point yet, it is the responsibility of your team leader to help you grow your business. I was surprised to learn about the amount of restrictions that are put upon the Big Yellow Box consultants. For instance, they are not allowed to openly publish pricing, or to advertise anywhere on-line.

The heart of this business is fueled by getting bookings for parties, individual sales and new recruits is considered bonuses. The idea is to show the “not so crafty people” exactly how to make the crafts. The Big Yellow Box gives you the basics to make the crafts, but it is you that comes up with the creative ways to decorate / color the product. I would like to quote what one of their consultants said, “We do not sell people a product, we sell them an experience! ” Most consider this product as selling family time together. This is the kind of statement that gives you the warm and fuzzy feeling inside. The idea is to promote quality family time together, by buying their kits and doing them together.

If you decide you wish to host a party, a hostess can earn up to $200 worth of free product for a party that yields $1000, and I understand this is a pretty easy goal to obtain!

If you are considering this as a business, one consultant put it best, “I don’t necessarily think that Big Yellow Box is “better” than other companies. I love it because it is different.
