5 Fun Websites for Writers and Designers

Fun Websites

Do you like being creative and use the internet? Here are a few websites that are fun, and can keep those creative juices flowing.

Cafepress.com

This website allows you to create original content for books, shirts, hats, calendars, pillows, mugs, sticks, clocks, and more. You come up with an original graphic and even just text and put it on the item. You can buy your own items, or set a markup price for other people to buy from you.

There is no upfront payment in doing this. This website uses the print on demand technology. They will only create your item if someone buys it. I haven’t used this website too much, but I made a few dollars making a cute kitty shirt.

Associated Content

Well if you are here reading this you all ready know a bit, (or a lot) about this site. If you are a writer this is a great place to be. Are you trying to write an upcoming novel but have writer’s block?

A writer should always be writing, no matter what. It keeps their skills up and keeps them being creative and thinking. You can make a little cash on the site by being creative!

Jinx.com

This is similar to Cafepress but not as easy. If you have an idea for any t-shirt designs, submit them here. If they are accepted they will send you something. At one time they were paying about $100 or so for used ideas, but I do not know if this changed.

Evernight.com

This site is great if you love to write stories. The community here is very active. Basically the concept is forum writing, in which someone starts with a story idea, people submit their character’s biography, and then start the story. Each person writes about their character’s point of view of the story and help the story progress. There is no money involved in this, but it is a lot of fun. There are other websites similar to this concept where you start with a story idea and people continue it, but this is the best one I’ve seen. People seem to be very active on this website, continuing the story.

It’s not a site where lots of random people continue a story and it has no direction. There normally are a set group of people that are part of the story. You get basically accepted by the person who started the thread after submitting your character’s biography.

Flickr.com

This is new, and is a Yahoo company. This is basically where people submit photos that they took and people comment on them. People on here really have some amazing talent and it is a lot of fun to look at other people’s photos. It is also a great way to get feedback on your photography!

The web is full of fun websites. It is also full of really poorly done sites with not much purpose. I always enjoy finding a fun website that allows me to be expressive and keep those creative juices flowing.
