JBL manufactures home theater and speaker systems and has been a leader in speakers since 1927 with the most notable consumer speaker systems in theatres with the majority of THX installations worldwide. JBL makes such a huge variety of home and professional speakers and are a proven industry leader in the field.

The JBL Spot is an extremely stylish and well built 2.1 sound system for multimedia use. The stylish design is enhanced even further by being able to choose the color of the speakers and bass unit with a snap on cover in black or white.

The company has done an fantastic job to create an excellent speaker system for all your multimedia systems. Here are the key features and specifications of the JBL Spot:

Listening to music and video games on the JBL Spot is a treat to the ears with the clear tones, very good deep bass and superior quality sound. The satellite speakers do an excellent job for their size and give clear and strong sound.

The whole system comes with the 2 satellite speakers, the bass unit, power adapter, stereo mini jack cable and the user guide. The stereo mini cable is a nice 10 foot length so keeping your distance for devices like an MP-3 player or the PlayStation Portable and not pulling the bass unit off the shelf is easy. Each satellite speaker has a 6 foot cable so you can easily position them where you want.

The satellite speaker’s cables are covered with a cloth fabric for a retro look and the speakers as well as the bass unit have the snap on covers. The package comes with two sets of colored glossy covers, black and white, that snap off and on to each speaker. You might have to apply some pressure to the smaller speakers to get them off as they are less flexible than the larger cover due to their size.

Using the Spot with your computer is very nice and the system puts out very clear sound with exceptional quality. You can also use the Spot with multimedia devices as I mentioned like an MP3 player or a PSP. I enjoyed using the PSP with the Spot so you can get the clear sounds when playing games and not the smaller speaker sound you get from the speaker on the PSP.

The output control for the bass unit is a small knob by the connection jacks and the volume for the whole system is two small touch buttons on the one satellite speaker. Volume is easy to adjust with the simple touch of a button for the whole system. The touch buttons are not mechanical so they will not break from wear but use an electrical current from your body to sense you’re touching the button and want the volume up or down.

Setup could not be easier for a computer as the system is plug and play with only the stereo jack connecting to your computer. You may have to setup the system in your control panel’s audio section for a 2.1 speaker system but this only takes a few seconds. The system works exceptionally well with a PC and sounds fantastic in games, music and movies.

Using the Spot sound system with a smaller device such as the PSP or an MP3 player works very well with the system supplying the power and not being a drain from your device. The rich quality of sound from the Spot is equally great on these smaller devices and the Spot works just as well with consoles. With console gaming systems like the XBox 360 and the Wii using a small y adapter to change the component cables RCA connectors to the mini stereo cables adapter the Spot can connect to these gaming systems for exceptional quality sound in your gaming.

The Spot sound system connects to all these devices easily and makes a great all around multimedia sound system. Using the system for a home theatre is fantastic and very simple to set up. It gets very good clear sound and the deep bass is great while watching movies. The whole system has great long cords so setting them up across a line of shelves or on separate furniture is easy.

Using the speakers at their maximum volume is not recommended for your ears but you will get no distortion at high volumes like you do with other systems. The sound is the same with volumes at lower settings or cranked up, nice and clear. To mute the volume altogether you simply touch both the up and down volume touch buttons on the right speaker and it will mute for you. To get back your sound touch either button and you will resume your listening pleasure.

The JBL Spot sound system is great with some exceptional quality sound. The bass is great but not as fantastic as the smaller satellite speakers. For use in any multimedia setup I could throw at the small system it performed equally as well. I tried out the system for a couple of weeks and really enjoyed the nice clear sound the system puts out.

For exceptional listening quality and very versatile use as a multimedia system you cannot go wrong with the JBL Spot. I highly recommend the JBL Spot 2.1 Sound System for a great quality speaker system.
