How to Plan a Beach Side Baby Shower

Planning a Baby Shower

Planning a baby shower, can be a lot of fun especially when you are looking for a location that is a little different. During the summer months there a plenty of places that you can go to have a baby shower outdoors. That is why I came up with the idea of having a beach side baby shower. Just make sure that you check the rules of the beach before you plan your party. In some states there is a fee charged for each person coming onto the beach so you will want to look into this as well. Below are a few ideas in how you can go about planning a beach side baby shower for your next expectant friend.

Creating a seating area

Since you will be on a beach you will want to make a comfortable seating area, for your guests and especially for the expectant mom. Usually most beach areas will allow you to set up behind one of the beach dunes where the ground is a little more flat and stable. I have also found that using regular beach chairs is a great option for your baby shower seating area. There are also tables that are made to be set up on the sand. Your local Wal-mart store will have plenty of these tables that come with a beach umbrella usually attached to it. What is nice about using beach furniture is that it folds up easily and you will have no problem transporting it and setting it up. Arrange the chairs so that the mom to be is in the center and you can set up an oversized beach blanket for all of the gifts to be placed on. In some locations you may be able to rent a pre-designated beach area that is used for picnics, or special events. This will help to make setup even easier. You will want to have the expectant mom sit under the umbrella so that she is out of the sun and able to keep cool.

Simple decorations

The beach itself is really what will make up most of your d©cor for your beach side baby shower. In addition to the beach you can attach some balloons onto the chairs, and the table. This will help your guests be able to find the location when they arrive. The balloons would obviously be in the typical baby shower colors. Flowers are also a nice touch to a beach side baby shower.

Keep the food light

Since it is a beach wedding, you will want to keep the food as simple as possible. Find out what the expectant mom would like to eat. Try to incorporate some of her favorite items into the preparations. Finger foods are really a great option when it comes to a beach party. I have found that fruit and vegetables platters work well. You can fill a cooler with these items and another cooler with all of the beverages and plenty of ice.

Don’t forget the sunscreen

Since you will be on the beach you will want to make sure everyone has some type of skin protection. Small tubes of sunscreen can be placed in a decorative bucket on the table. Let each guest know as they arrive that they can grab a tube. This is especially important for the expectant mom.

Fans as party favors

Since you are on the beach small hand held fans can make great baby shower souvenirs. You can tie some baby ribbon around each fan with the mom and expectant babies name on it. Some even go as far as having each fan engraved with the date and parents name on it. These types of party favors will help to keep your guests cool and comfortable.
