Great Free Software Programs for Writers

Book Writing, Content Ideas, Spellcheck, Writing Software

All writers need a software program that they can count on, whether it be for focusing on time, keeping track of ideas, or laying out the groundwork for their next award winning book. It is also beneficial for most software programs to be free or affordable since we all know that many writers are “struggling” and waiting for their next break in the book business.

Focus Booster, a time management type of software, allows you to see exactly how many minutes/or hours you are spending on a project. You may set it to only to just ten minutes for brain booster sessions, or set it to a half an hour or an hour to finish writing your next content article. Focus Boost allows you to personalize each session with sounds, times and colors. It is also free to download.

Another free software program for writers who may not have word processing software or cannot afford the Word program or Microsoft Office may download “Open Office. ” Open Office is somewhat similar to Microsoft Office. Open Office has spreadsheets, word processing software and slideshow presentation software too. The spreadsheet tool is useful for typing in titles that you may brainstorm for content ideas, dates that titles are written and offers that you have received. Spreadsheets are also a useful way to keep track of monthly income from writing jobs and clients.

Novel writers will enjoy Ywriter5, created by Spacejock Software. “PC-Magazine “also rates this special book-writing software a 4.5/5 stars too. Ywriter5 is free to download and assists the author in writing his/her book, chapter by chapter or scene by scene. S Its website offers a video tutorial and basic screenshots to help you get a feel for the software. A linux version is also available for download. Authors who would like to turn their books into ebooks and sell them online can create ebooks with the free download program, Ebook Creator 1.0. The software program allows you to create ebooks from HTML files, and then create a book as one file or as an executable file (.exe). Once you have created your book, it can be sold on an author or personal blog, bio website, Ebay or even Craigslist. Ebooks are becoming more popular with electronic reading devices such as the Kindle.

For writers who find themselves at a loss for words, would like to extend their vocabulary or double check their spelling, the TheSage English Dictionary and Thesaurus, is available for download. It was created by Sequence Publishing, and it also has no specific requirements to be downloaded onto your computer. The dictionary can run both on Windows Vista and XP.

The Internet offers many beneficial free programs for writers who are just getting their start or perhaps-are already established. Some of the best programs don’t necessarily have to cost a lot of money either. Many freeware programs offer time management, creative storyboard assistance, spell-checking, and even the creation in the final book process. Happy writing!
