5 Ways to Buy New York Mets Tickets

craig's list, Stubhub

The New York Mets are quite the popular team these days, thanks to the fact that they are one of the best teams in the National League. Getting a ticket to a Mets game can be quite the headache and finding Mets tickets isn’t going to get any easier once the team moves into Citi Field in 2009. Fans shouldn’t get discouraged, though. Finding top-notch seats to any Mets game isn’t impossible. Here are 5 ways to buy New York Mets tickets.

Ways to Buy New York Mets Tickets #1: Stubhub.com

StubHub teamed up with Major League Baseball to become the “official fan marketplace of MLB.” Simply put, you want tickets to any Mets game and are willing to spend anything, go to StubHub. You can find tickets anywhere in the ballpark on StubHub. Many times, if you’re patient, you’ll even get a great deal. Last season, the wife and I decided at the last minute that we wanted to head out to Shea for a weeknight game. Three hours before first pitch, she logged onto StubHub and found tickets in the sixth row on the third base line. We paid less than 20 dollars for these seats. I’ve never gotten a bad deal on StubHub and highly recommend it to everybody.

Ways to Buy New York Mets Tickets #2: Craig’s List

Craig’s List is very similar to StubHub. Once you log onto the site, search for the tab labeled “tickets” under “for sale.” From there, all you have to do is search for posts where somebody is selling their Mets tickets. Normally you can find tickets on Craig’s List a few days in advance and many times you’ll get a great deal as the person selling the tickets is doing so because he found out at the last minute that he can’t attend the game.

Ways to Buy New York Mets Tickets #3: Sign up for email alerts on Mets.com

Signing up for the Flushing Flash will mean receiving tons of pointless email alerts from Mets.com about information that you probably are well aware of already. However, throughout the regular season, you’ll also receive information regarding special promotions at the ballpark. I received a handful of emails in 2007 regarding inexpensive bleacher seats that went on the sale the day of the game. If it wasn’t for the Flushing Flash, I never would have known that these seats were available. That alone makes the flood of emails worthwhile.

Ways to Buy New York Mets Tickets #4: Join Facebook and the Global New York Mets Fan Group

As an active member of this group for two years, I can tell you that people are constantly selling tickets on this website. With over 19,000 members at this particular moment (and the group grows every day), you’re bound to find tickets. Like any online forum, you must be quick when approaching a person regarding Mets tickets. When somebody posts that he is selling tickets, those tickets are usually gone fast.

Ways to Buy New York Mets Tickets #5: Ebay.com

When all else fails, go with the failsafe option known as eBay. Tickets to every Mets game can be found on eBay. I recommend using caution when buying tickets off of eBay, though. You shouldn’t do so unless you are searching for tickets to a game that is at least a couple weeks away. This way, you can be sure that you’ll have your tickets in time for the game. Hard to get tickets, such as those to the Subway Series, can always be found on eBay.
