5 Best Cheap Guitars

Acoustic Guitars, Yamaha

Cheap guitars are very easy to come by. Browse any internet sight for musical instruments and plenty of choices will come up. These days, acoustic guitars can be purchased in the drug store! They’ll be so cheap that they’ll end up sitting in a corner. So go with a name brand instrument like Fender, Yamaha or Washburn. It really won’t cost that much more, and the quality of the guitar will turn this bargain into a true value. Here are 5 quality cheap guitars that can impress more than the novice.

Yamaha F335
The Yamaha F335 is the king of cheap guitars because the price is right, and the quality is there. It’s the least expensive in the name brand arena, but just about anyone who has played one will tell you that for the price, this is one great acoustic guitar. It sells for $150.00, and although it has a laminate top, the sound is surprisingly rich. It’s also an easy instrument to play.

Washburn
Washburn acoustic guitars start at $150.00. Calling this a cheap guitar just doesn’t seem fair. It’s really a great value because it has one of the top quality features of any well made instrument. The Washburn has a solid top. Solid tops season over time, so the sound quality just gets richer and richer. Beginners and the budget minded alike will absolutely fall in love with this guitar. Washburn is a name brand with a strong reputation. It’s also a brand more likely to be found in “mom and pop” stores outside of large urban areas.

Fender CD 60
The fact that this acoustic guitar actually made a parcel trip to Iraq to accompany a musical soldier, made it in excellent condition, due to the case, and then withstood the hard climate makes it hard to put in the #3 spot. If an instrument could be a patriot, this one would be at the top of the list. Since it only costs $200.00, it certainly qualifies as a cheap guitar, but its quality is undeniable.

Ibanez
Ibanez and acoustic guitar seem like a strange combination. This is a name brand attached to rock guitarists, but even rockers need something to write songs with. Since they spend the cash on the battle axe, they’re gonna go for the cheap acoustic that sounds good. This one does. It’s a great value at $180.00 because it’s a solid top instrument. That’s a surprising quality feature from a manufacturer know for its electric instruments.

Ovation Celebrity
Ovations don’t really qualify as a cheap guitar, but the quality of the instruments is a little questionable for what’s in them. For $280.00, this acoustic guitar comes with a round back that gives it a loud, boomy sound. It’s super for singing around the campfire. Ovation is a name brand that has managed to fall into the musical psyche as one of the best instruments out there. The high end guitars are definitely worth that description. However, the Celebrity has a misleading drawback where quality is concerned. It comes with a built in pick-up. This feature will irritate most sound techs because it’s virtually impossible to make the thing sound good through a sound system or amp. If sound quality isn’t a priority, then this feature is good.
