2013 Fantasy Baseball Sleepers: Second Base (2B)

2013 Season, Fantasy Baseball Sleepers, Jurickson Profar

2013 Fantasy Baseball Sleepers Second Base (2B) are based on a single season outlook for the 2013 fantasy baseball season. Second Base (2B) sleepers are established for a standard fantasy baseball scoring system in mixed AL/NL leagues with scoring stats including: Runs, Home Runs, RBI, Stolen Bases, and Batting Average. Second Base (2B) sleepers are based on players who have the potential to make a significant statistical impact in 2013 fantasy baseball leagues. These sleepers include players who are typically ranked and drafted lower in fantasy baseball leagues than what their potential stats warrant for the 2013 season.

Sleepers: Catcher (C) – First Base (1B) – Second Base (2B) – Third Base (3B) – Shortstop (SS) – Outfield (OF) – Starting Pitcher (SP) – Relief Pitcher (RP)

Josh Rutledge – col

Filling in for the the injured Troy Tulowitzki at shortstop during the 2012 season, Rutledge took the Rockies lineup by storm as he showcased a nice combination of power and speed to the tune of 8 home runs, 7 stolen bases, 5 triples, and 20 doubles over just 277 at bats. With easy 15 home run and 15 stolen base potential to go along with a .300 batting average ability, Rutledge could be the Rockies long term answer and future at second base starting in 2013.

Dustin Ackley – sea

After an atrocious 2012 sophomore season in the majors, there may not be any direction but up, for Ackley to go in 2013. Possessing a good eye at the plate and excellent hitting fundamentals, we have to believe that Ackley’s .226 batting average in 2012 was an anomaly. Expecting a breakout showing during the 2013 season is definitely within reach for Ackley.

Jemile Weeks – oak

Coming off of an out of nowhere breakout rookie season in 2011, Weeks fell flat on his face as the Athletics opening day starting second baseman. However you can’t teach speed, and Weeks has plenty to offer. Assuming his .303 batting average over 406 major league at bats during the 2011 wasn’t merely a fluke, then there is reason to believe that a comeback season could easily be in store for Weeks in 2013.

Logan Forsythe – sd

A young infielder who can play multiple positions, Forsythe is solid but not great as an offensive option entering the 2013 season. Likely offering multiple infield position eligibility in fantasy baseball leagues, Forsythe could round into a rock solid flex starter for fantasy baseball teams in 2013. Offering 10 home run, 15 stolen base, and .280 plus batting average potential, deep league fantasy baseball teams will definitely want to take notice of Forsythe as a sleeper late in their drafts.

Johnny Giavotella – kc

Failing to claim the Royals starting second base job during the 2012 season, Giavotella will enter the 2013 with seemingly a make or break status as the Royals second base prospect of the future. Possessing a nice combination of 10 home run and 20 stolen base potential, Giavotella would be a solid starting option in fantasy baseball lineups if he can finally realize his potential in 2013.
