Not even the BET Awards are safe from my fashion scrutiny. Lucky for them it’s just my opinion and it really doesn’t count.
Chris Brown could have been going to the CMA Awards. He donned a pair of blue jeans, undone shiny black boots, and a white jacket. You have to see the boots. I didn’t like them but he looked good. You couldn’t tell where he was going. Usher wore military style boots as well, with a black sweatshirt and blue jeans. Where was he going the grocery store? Nelly wore a black tee shirt and blue jeans. What’s up with that?
Rihanna wore a beautiful yellow spaghetti strapped, v-neck, ruffled dress. The gown was a summer dress (sundress) that looked pretty. The material wasn’t for a gala event maybe for going to a social gathering, or church event.
Jordin Sparks looked amazing in a red sleeveless cocktail dress. Her shoes matched her designer clutch bag and to finish off her ensemble she even had red highlights in her hair.
Keri Hilson wore a shiny silver jumpsuit with a v-neck to her stomach. A black leather jacket and black sandal heels to match completed her ensemble. This outfit wasn’t a gala event material. She looked good for her age but nothing that should be worn in public.
Lil Mama definitely had the most interesting outfit of the night. She could have been auditioning for Hee-Haw. She had a red and white striped dress with a heart as a top and a red what looked like a sports bra shirt. The skirt fluffed out. It was adorable if she had been ANYWHERE but a BET Awards show.
All I can say for Soulja Boy is pull up your freaking pants. Does your mother know you go out in public like that? What’s with the handkerchief on your neck? Hey if that’s where people stick the handkerchiefs now in case of a runny nose you might want to stay home until that clears up.
Gabrielle Union was beautiful in a straight white gown with silver shoes and necklace. She looked like she was at an Awards Ceremony.
Pretty Ricky band looked a little to shiny in their gold pants and vests with white shirts and white shoes. They were dressed for an event.
Alicia Keys wore a beautiful pink strapless dress that had an interesting top. Solange (Beyonce’s younger sister) wore a too dark dress for summer that was pretty with puffed sleeves and a feathery clutch that didn’t go with anything.
J-Hud wore a strapless bronze dress with two black stripes that ruined the dress. Her shoes and clutch matched as well.
Mario wore a pin striped suit with black shoes and white laces. He had a nice outfit for a guy.
Ashanti wore a beautiful black gown with a fourth of one side missing. The dress was so pretty I could overlook the seamstress mess.
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and her BFF Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas wore black. I liked the black dress but not the bra strap straps and the black pant suit was cute but I didn’t think pants should be worn to this event. Ask Soulja Boy, I don’t think he thought he should wear pants either.
Niecy Nash wore a pink drop waist dress that looked cute on her.
Lil Kim wore a beautiful purple v-necked gown that was very appropriate. The best gown was worn by Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth. She wore a metallic bronze evening gown with a v-neck that should have been pulled up.
Keyshia Cole wore a yellow fluff dress. Personally, did not like it. Makes whoever wears it look like a marshmallow.
The guy that tried the hardest was Ne-Yo in a mismatched suit and tie with a hat.
Toccara Jones wore a one shoulder black dress with black shoes. For someone that was trying to become a model she didn’t learn how to pose.
That wraps up my dressed comments. There were a couple ensembles that were so bad I couldn’t think of anything nice to say so I just bypassed them. For a look at the dressed participants go to BET Awards Red Carpet.
