It’s Time for the Kidz Kraze Consignment Sale in Lynchburg VA

Most retail stores have a goal in mind: to get you to spend a lot of money. When you are buying items for infants and young children, they quickly outgrow clothes and toys. You can save a lot of money by shopping second hand stores. There are several full time children’s consignment stores in the Lynchburg area. But twice a year, there’s another place to find clothing, toys, and much more for kids all at very reasonable prices.

Friends Maria and Julia started Kidz Kraze, http://kidzkrazesale.com, in 2009. Their first seasonal sale brought 40 consignors selling many products to Lynchburg parents. The spring 2012 sale, March 19-24, will have over 200 consignors and several rooms full of items. According to the most recent Facebook update, there are over 30,000 items out on the shelves now.

The sale is being held at Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene, 1737 Wards Ferry Road in Lynchburg. Tonight’s opening is only for consignors and registered first time moms. I was able to stop in today and take photos of a lot of the items for sale. There’s a wide variety of everything from infant clothing and furniture to toddler riding toys and chapter books for older kids.

There are several clothing racks, all sorted by size, with boys and girls clothes on separate racks. There’s also a rack with maternity clothes and a rack with summer items such as swimsuits. Children’s designer clothes are in a separate section. My children are all grown but I can always use more toys for the grandchildren. The little dresses are so cute that I know I’ll be back once the sale opens to the public.

Public hours begin from 9am-2pm on Tuesday. The sale will close for restocking from 2-7pm and reopen for a special preview sale from 7-9pm. During the 7-9pm Tuesday show, there will be a $5 admission fee which is donated to the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center, www.blueridgepc.org.

Wednesday through Friday hours are 9am-5pm. Friday will be Fun Friday with many items reduced 25% and fun activities for the kids all morning. There will be a Bubble Dance party at 9:30am, balloon creatures by Balloon Dude Travis at 10am, a fire engine on display at 10:30am, and a music lesson by Melody Makers at 11:30am. The sale concludes on Saturday from 8am-noon with many items reduced 50%.

Consignors are being asked to donate any items left to the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center. Maria and Julia are in this venture to help other moms and the larger community. Along with the sale, there are bins to collect teddy bears and other gently used animals to donate to the Teddy Bear Brigade, an organization providing animals to children touched by poverty, natural disasters, illness, abandonment, and war. The Kidz Care program is another offshoot of the Kidz Kraze sale. Teachers from local schools and day cares provide information about children in need. Local families can sponsor a child by buying several clothing outfits, a pair of shoes, a book, and a toy at the sale. Kidz Kraze will take care of getting the items delivered to the children.

Whether you are a parent or grandparent, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to save money on items you want or need for the children in your life. All who visit are asked to donate a non-perishable food item which will be donated to the Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene food pantry.
