Show Your Mom Love with a Homemade Mother’s Day Card

Mother’s Day is fast approaching, and it’s time to think about how you will show your mom that you appreciate all that she has and does for you. One of the best ways to show your mom that you appreciate her is to give her a homemade card. It is often the case that parents enjoy homemade cards more than store-bought ones. Here are some of my ideas for making a homemade card for your mom this Mother’s Day.

When I was growing up, my sister and I made homemade cards for our parents all the time, and they were always thrilled with them!

I always made my homemade cards by folding a piece of colored construction paper in half, but you could also use a piece of printer paper if you desire. Decide if you want to make a card that opens from the side or from the bottom before you begin.

You can use stickers, markers, crayons, stencils, and/or magazine pictures to decorate your homemade Mother’s Day card. I must admit that I am not very artistic, so I always drew simple pictures in my homemade cards and I used a lot of words to say what I wanted to express. My sister, on the other hand, was pretty artistic and she could draw many things well.

Depending on your artistic ability, you might want to draw hearts, a picture of you and/or your mom, or something that reminds you of your mother on your homemade Mother’s Day card. Alternatively, you could cut out pictures from magazines of mothers and children and other things that remind you of your mother and paste the pictures into your card in a collage.

I love the art of poetry, so one Mother’s Day I wrote my mom a poem, which she adored. If you are good with words, you could write your mom a poem on the inside of your homemade Mother’s Day card as well. If you want to use words to express your love and appreciation for your mom, but you feel you are not good with words, you can look up quotes or poems on the Internet and stick those on your homemade card.

Another idea for what to put inside your homemade Mother’s Day card is to make a list of things you are thankful to your mother for. You might say something like, “I appreciate all the times you made me my favorite dinner when I had something to celebrate,” “Thank you, Mom for being so loving and kind to me,” or, “Thank you for always believing in me.”

While some individuals prefer to use stencils to make their lettering prettier or more attractive, I personally believe mothers would love to see your own handwriting on their homemade Mother’s Day cards.

Making a homemade card allows you to show your mother your love and appreciation for her in a unique and creative manner. These are only a couple of ideas of the things you may want to consider putting on the outside or inside of your homemade card.
