Omega 3 and the Female Body

For women, the signs of aging come in varying degrees and at varying stages of life. For many women, aging begins to affect the skin, nerves and cardiovascular system at, what appears to be, the same time. With recent research developments, the positive impact Omega 3 provide to the female body are numerous and should not be ignored. As part of a healthy female dietary program, Omega 3 should be incorporated through dietary supplements, or by food, in all genders and ages, but especially for women who wish to ensure the optimal outcome in terms of youthfulness, vitality and decreased risk for nervous and cardiovascular disease.

Omega 3, found in fatty fish oil, can be consumed through the foods women eat or through dietary supplements. Used alone, or in a combination with Vitamin E and Niacin, Omega 3 provides women with the cellular building blocks to ensure youthful skin rejuvenation. In food, Omega 3 is most commonly found in fish such as tuna and salmon and nutritionist recommend women consume these fish at least twice per week. Additionally, the use of flaxseed oil in cooking is also recommended.

For the female skin, Omega 3 provides the necessary restoration of the oil needed to maintain a youthful and healthy appearance. The Omega 3 also provides the oil and strength to enrich a woman’s hair and nails. When a woman’s diet is depleted of Omega 3, nails, hair and skin become dry and brittle thus emitting the appearance of aging.

In addition to improving a women’s nails, hair and skin, Omega 3 facilitates the development of cell mediators needed for restoration of nervous system processes. With this restoration, nerves, retinas and brain function are improved and there is a reduction in the likelihood of blood clotting and, therefore, a reduced risk of stroke. Conversely, a woman’s diet low in Omega 3, may lead to a greater incidence of allergic reactions and greater risk for development of arthritis as aging occurs.

Health, active, women, who use Omega 3, on a daily basis, in combination with Vitamin E and Niacin, found a greater protection against heart disease, a lower resting heart rate with improved outcomes following exercise routines. Additionally, the implication of Omega 3, on all children and adults, with Attention Deficit Disorder, were also evident as seen in a three month study. These study results found ADD children, who took Omega 3 supplements daily, improved attention, concentration levels and decreased impulsivity levels

While studies continue to support the use of Omega 3, scientists have turned to the Omega 6 supplement to determine the implication of both Omega complexes on the human body. In the interim, Omega 3 continues to remain at the forefront of health care recommendations and, in combination with other vitamins and supplements, works to improve the female longevity and the youthful appearance sought after by so many women.
