“Tom Petty, Springsteen, Neil Young, and Pearl Jam…these are the people I look to,” says Chris Carrabba, the creative force behind Dashboard Confessional. “They do what they want and follow their hearts, going wherever their music is taking them.”
Dashboard Confessional is led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Chris Carrabba from Boca Raton, Florida. He was born on April 10th, 1975. The band was started in 1999, as a side project from Carrabba’s venture with Florida rock band Further Seems Forever. The current members include Chris Carrabba (vocals, guitar), John Lefler (guitar), Scott Shoenbeck (bass), and Mike Marsh (drums). Violinist Susan Sherouse often performs and records with the group.
In January 2000. Chris’ friend Amy Fleisher convinced him to release an album on her small label, Fiddler Records. Entitled The Swiss Romance, the album had 1000 copies released under Fiddler. It was eventually sold to Drive-Thru Records so that more people could get a hold of it. Chris also sold the album at Further Seems Forever shows and did small solo tours to support the album. In August 2000 he left Further Seems Forever. In January 2001, he signed to Vagrant Records.
The band has won the MTV2 award at 2002’s MTV Video Music Awards for their song “Screaming Infidelities” and their music has appeared on motion picture soundtracks such as Shrek 2 and Spider-Man 2.

I advise that if you have never heard of them, you check them out. They are amazing. I have every cd they have released as well as a bonus dvd. I have also been to two shows. They are even more amazing live and they sound great. The lyrics are creative and inspired and the music is well written. Out of all their songs, there is probably just 2 I dont really care for. Out of like 50 songs, that is really saying something.
