Are you in the process of planning a fete that focuses on dishes made with butterscotch? Will there be adults in attendance at the event? If so, you may want to think about carrying the theme over into your party’s bar menu. Don’t know which drinks would be suitable for such a menu? Don’t worry. As a former special events planner, I would be delighted to share a few of my favorite cocktail ideas with you. Each one would work with your party’s overall concept. Here they are:
Butterscotch Hop
In my opinion, butterscotch hops are ideal for those that enjoy drinks that resemble desserts. It is generally made with the aid of an ice filled blender and includes three delightful scoops of butterscotch swirl ice cream. Other ingredients needed to create the cocktail include Kahlua, Butterscotch Schnapps and half and half cream. Once you’re done adding the ingredients to the blender, mix them until they are well combined. Then pour the mixture into a red wine goblet glass. You could opt to garnish it with a scotch whiskey infused whipped cream or crushed, hard butterscotch candies. Both taste great.
Bottom Bouncer
Would you rather not bust out a blender every time a cocktail is needed? If so, I’d recommend going with a bottom bouncer. It is generally served in a tall shot glass that has been chilled in the freezer for about an hour. It is comprised of equal amounts of Butterscotch Schnapps and Bailey’s Irish Cream. I tend to use 1 ounce of each. Just pour the ingredients into the shot glass and serve it to your guests.
Blonde Teaser
Another drink worth considering is the blonde teaser. There are a few ways to make the drink. I would recommend using a vanilla bean soda, ¾ ounces of Butterscotch Schnapps, ¾ ounces of vodka and a splash of butterscotch coffee syrup. I think that it produces a nice blend of flavors. However, feel free to adjust the ingredients to suit your tastes. Options include swapping out the vanilla bean soda for cola and exchanging the regular vodka for a flavor enhanced one. You may also want to think about using a whole vanilla bean garnish.
Sacrifice Fly
Lastly, you may want to kick around the idea of serving sacrifice flies. They typically include hot chocolate and whipped cream. Thus, they make a great winter cocktail. In order to create the drink, you’ll also need ½ ounce of chocolate liqueur, ½ ounce of brandy and ½ ounce of butterscotch schnapps. To assemble the drink, grab a heat resistant coffee mug and whip up a batch of hot chocolate. Then pour the alcohol into the mug and top it off with the hot chocolate. Afterward, garnish the cocktail with a dollop of whipped cream. You may opt to use plain whipped cream or a butterscotch infused one. Personally, I’d suggest going with the infused version because it tastes good and fits in with the party’s theme.
