Whether you’re throwing a baby shower, a bachelorette party or a birthday party for a teen, you’ll all have a great time. There will be fabulous foods, cute decorations and fun games. Many people create games with a theme particularly for the event – like a baby shower theme or birthday theme. But, no matter what type of party you’re throwing there’s one game that always fits in: the “Guess the Price” game is a cool way to give some of your guests a nice gift or two!
Taken from the idea behind “The Price is Right”, this party guessing game can be played in different ways. One way is to purchase a few common items that nearly anyone could use, place them all in one box or other container (or just set them on a table), and have the guests guess how much the products cost. Each guest can view the items and write down a guess on a piece of paper. Have them put the papers in a bowl or other container. The guesses will then be evaluated by the person in charge of that and compared to the cash register receipt(s) from the purchase. The person who comes closest is the winner of all the products.
A different way to play the game is to have participants place a guess on just one product or on individual products. The one who comes closest, of course, wins. With this version, though, it’s not unusual to have several ties between the players.
Some suggestions for things you can use for the game include lotion, cotton balls, tape, cleaning supplies, fruit, paper plates or cups, personal needs, baby products, household items and other such things. If all the guests will be girls – like at a sleepover – you can tailor the products specifically to them.
Consider the fact that many people at the party will know the exact price of some products since they purchase them frequently. For this reason, purchase some products which are on sale, shop at a store that isn’t local or throw in a few things from a dollar-theme store.
The “Guess the Price” party game is fun for nearly any party. It can be used as an ice breaker or as the final element of the party. One or more guests will go home with some nice prizes and you can brag that you’ve had yet one more fabulous party!
