‘Build Your Own Hamburger’ Wedding Bar

For some people a casual wedding is the perfect choice. Everything doesn’t have to be all prim and proper and guests can feel relaxed and peaceful. Since you’re having a casual wedding why not offer a casual menu? In fact, do away with the menu and just set up a ‘build your own hamburger’ bar. It’s a fun way to get guests mingling while they eat burgers made just how they like them.

Make all the burgers the same or offer various types of burgers: regular, veggie burgers, onion soup mix burgers or even burgers with green peppers in them. Set each type of burger on a different platter so flavors don’t intermingle. Make little signs for each type by folding a piece of card stock in half, writing the name on one half, then standing it up in front of the meat.

Offer more than one type of bun or bread. Regular buns, sesame seed buns, onion buns and even Texas toast garlic bread are all options. Consider offering flour tortillas for guests who want to make a burger burrito. Set out forks, too, for those who prefer to do without bread.

Set out an assortment of cheeses. American, provolone, blue cheese crumbles, cheddar and mozzarella are just a few of the cheeses your guests can choose. Offer other meats that guests can put on top of their burgers, such as thin ham slices or bacon.

Besides the typical lettuce, tomato, assorted pickles, and onions, offer relish, chili, coleslaw, mushrooms, sauerkraut, assorted peppers, grilled pineapple and more. Put out an array of toppings and condiments to suit all the various burger combinations. Mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, garlic mayo, French and ranch dressing, quesadilla sauce and similar things can be combined to make each burger, for each guest, perfect.

Besides burgers you can offer the guests several side dishes. Potato chips, tortilla chips, whole or sliced pickles, roasted potatoes, grilled veggies and other goodies go well with the ‘build your own burger’ bar. Be sure to mark each item, except those which are easily identified – like ketchup or mustard – so the guest can see what each item is.

As the guests mingle and eat you’ll hear them all raving about the burgers. That’s because you’ve got something for everyone at the burger buffet and none of the guests can say they didn’t like what was on the menu.
