Bluetooth Headphone Review – MEElectronics AF32 Air-Fi

As someone who writes about technology, I have the opportunity to try a lot of new products. I know a product is really good when I immediately make it part of my life and start using it everyday. Such is the case with MEElectronics’ AF32 Air-Fi Bluetooth headphones. I’ve used a Bluetooth earpiece with my phone for several years and love being able to talk while I’m working at home, without being tethered to the phone with wires. Now I have headphones that offer me that same wireless freedom, but without sacrificing sound quality.

The AF32 Air-Fi headphones do everything my favorite wired headphones do, but without the wires. I mainly use them to watch movies and other content from YouTube and Netflix on my phone and iPad. I travel frequently and most hotels I visit now have HD TVs with inputs for devices like my iPad. Now I watch my content via the iPad, while walking around the room or resting in bed, using the wireless headphones. The headphones also have a microphone and function as a phone handset.

Tech details
These headphones use A2DP stereo Bluetooth technology for high fidelity music playback. There’s also a 3.5mm standard audio jack and a included cable that allow the headphones to function with a wired connection, for use on planes where Bluetooth is not allowed. One thing I discovered, the headphones must be charged, even to use them with the wired connection. Also the range and signal strength is limited to one room, if I walk into another room the Bluetooth signal breaks up.

Convenience
For convenience, they fold up and fit in a small included travel bag, which fits nicely into my carry-on when traveling. Battery life is also very long, even with frequent use I get almost a week out of it before it needs recharging. Charging is easy via a USB cord that plugs into the 3.5mm jack. The AF32 Air-Fi headphones are compatible with most Android and Windows phones and tablets, along with iOS phones, iPads and other iOS products, and most Bluetooth devices.

Great for seniors
They are also great for seniors. My father is in his 80s and I got him a pair so he can watch Netflix movies, sit across the room from the TV and keep the volume as loud as he wants without disturbing anyone. My parents have an LG HDTV with Bluetooth and the AF32 headphones paired up easily with the TV. He can also use them to make phone calls and they work with the voice-dialing function on his Android phone.

The sound
I like the sound, for music, there is deep bass and very clear highs. The sound reproduction is accurate, and they just sound good whether I’m listening to rap music or a symphony. They have 40mm drivers and I think this offers a richer, fuller sound than most earbud-type headphones. I mainly use them to watch streaming documentaries online and find the quality really good for voices.

Phone calls
Not only are the AF32’s great sounding, convenient headphones, they also function for phone calls, with a built-in microphone. I can be listening to music or watching a video and if a call comes in, the content stops and I can take the call by pushing one button. I hear the caller clearly on the headphones and they can hear me. There are digital controls on the headset so I can initiate a call remotely and it also works with my phone’s voice dialing, so I can make and receive calls virtually hands-free.

Fit and style
The fit is nice and comfortable with soft earpads. They press hard enough against your ears to seal out some of the outside noise, yet not hard enough to cause discomfort, even when I wear them for a long time. The style is modern and looks good, the black and red version is especially eye-catching.
