Here are a few of the top private high schools in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin that stress the importance of quality education and also have a proven track record of high college admittance by their high school graduates.

Dominican High School

Dominican High School has a religious affiliation to the Roman Catholic tradition and is a current member of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA). The Dominican High School student body is co-ed and currently consists of 348 students. Of the 348 students, 35% are students of color. Dominican High School has 32 classroom teachers and a teacher/student ratio of 1:11. Of significant importance, 98% of Dominican High School graduates go on to attend a four-year college. Tuition for the 2007-2008 school year was $7,605.00, plus an additional $245 for textbooks and fees. Tuition reduction and assistance as well was scholarships are available to make Dominican High School affordable.

Marquette University High School was founded in 1857 as an academy for young men. To this day Marquette University High School still maintains an all-male student body. Rich in history and tradition, Marquette is affiliated with the Roman Catholic tradition and is a member of both the Jesuit Secondary Education Association (JSEA) and the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA). For the 2007-2008 academic school year, Marquette maintains a student body of 1,065, with 21% being students of color. There are 67 classroom teachers, and a teacher/student ratio of 1:15. The average class size is 24. Of Marquette University High School graduates, 98% go on to college or some other form of higher education. Tuition and fees for the 2007-2008 school year was $8,440. Financial aid awards are granted based on financial need. For the 2007-2008 school year alone, over $1,250,000 was allocated to 292 students.

Pius XI High School was founded in 1929 by the Pallottine Fathers and the School Sisters of St. Francis. Today Pius XI High School maintains a Roman Catholic affiliation, as well as membership in the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA). The student body is co-ed and consists of 1,382 students, with 24% of these students being students of color. Pius XI has 120 total classroom teachers and maintains a teacher/student ratio of 1:12. The percentage of college-bound graduates is 93%, and more than $8 million in college scholarships was offered to the class of 2006. Tuition for the 2007-2008 academic year was $7,950, and additional book fees costed $350. Tuition assistance is available in several forms, including academic awards and need-based scholarships. Tuition for the 2008-2009 school year will be determined in February.

St. Joan Antida High School

St. Joan Antida High School sets their goals on preparing young women to become leaders in business, education, government, and in their community. St. Joan Antida High School is a member of the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA) and holds a religious affiliation with the Roman Catholic tradition. The student body is all-female and consists of 323 students. Of these 323 students, 76% are students of color. St. Joan Antida High School has 29 total classroom teachers and a 1:11 teacher/student ratio. Tuition for the 2007-2008 school year was $4,950. Merit Scholarships, Need Based Financial Aid, PAVE Scholarship Program, and the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program are all offered to assist with the cost of tuition.

Milwaukee Lutheran High School holds a religious affiliation to the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. The total student body consists of 736 co-ed students, 20% of which are students of color. Milwaukee Lutheran High School has 44 classroom teachers, with a teacher/student ratio of 1:17. Tuition and fees for the 2007-2008 school year were $7,770. Academic and merit grants are available for financial assistance.
