For a few years now, I’ve been purchasing and eating several different varieties of Utz potato chips. Right now, I’m eating a bag of Utz Salt & Pepper Potato Chips and they are very tasty. These chips are just as good as any name brand potato chips, but their retail cost is usually much lower than that of name brand chips.

What makes these chips different from many other varieties of chips is the light coating of salt and pepper that adorns each chip. The appealingly crunchy texture of these chips makes them a wonderful accompaniment to virtually any type of sandwich.

Taste / Flavor
This variety of Utz potato chips possesses a unique and well defined flavor. As I write this article, a bag of Utz Salt & Pepper Potato Chips is sitting on the desk in front of me and I have been eating the chips as I write. It’s hard to stop eating these chips once I’ve started, so I’ve been trying not to look at the bag.

On a fairly regular basis, I purchase and eat these chips and have always been satisfied with their flavor. For accuracy, I just glanced at the list of ingredients on the bag and it says that the chips contain salt, black and white pepper, onion powder and garlic powder, among other ingredients. I was surprised to see that vinegar is not listed as an ingredient, because to me, these chips taste slightly tangy.

The salt and pepper flavor in Utz Salt & Pepper Potato Chips is somewhat subtle, but quite pleasing. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of nine.

Packaging
Utz Salt & Pepper Potato Chips are packaged in a standard type potato chip bag. The label features a white background that is accented with lots of little black dots, which I’m guessing are supposed to represent the salt and pepper seasoning in the chips.

The front label shows an illustration of some potato chips in the center and the smiling little Utz girl mascot in the upper – left corner and the rear label lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information. The bag opens easily and it also re-closes effectively.

Overall Rating
Utz is one of the leading producers of potato chips in America and their salt and pepper variety is a great flavor choice that many other potato chip companies do not offer. This variety of Utz potato chips is available at food retailers on America’s east coast and they are highly recommended by this food writer.
