Over the years, I have organized several circus themed parties. From what I have witnessed, it is a theme that works well for children up to age 10. It also lends itself to a lot of variation when it comes to party favors. With that said, I thought that I would share a few of my most successful circus themed party favor ideas. Here they are:
Circus Peanuts
What would a circus themed, children’s party be without circus peanuts? I’d suggest that you consider purchasing circus peanuts in bulk through a candy supply shop. In most instances, 20 pounds of circus peanuts will tend to cost you less than $50. In my experience, buying in bulk tends to be the least expensive option. Once you have the circus peanuts in your possession, you can divide it up into little sandwich bags and give one to each guest. Any leftover circus peanuts could be used as prizes or added to the dessert table.
Animal Crackers
In my opinion, animal crackers make a superlative circus themed party favor. Animal crackers can be obtained through a variety of sources including discount stores. I have found that it pays to shop around because prices vary greatly. If you are lucky, you’ll be able to pick up a case of animal crackers (24 boxes) for less than $30.
Bags of cotton candy should prove to be a big hit with the kids as well. A case of individually wrapped bags of cotton candy may be obtained through most concession supply shops. A case of 50 bags of cotton candy will tend to lighten your wallet by $32.
Glow-in-the-Dark Bracelets
Do you prefer to hand out non-edible party favors? If so, you may want to consider using glow-in-the-dark bracelets or necklaces as party favors. A case (dozen) of glow-in-the-dark bracelets or necklaces can typically be purchased for less than $5 through most party supply shops. I’d recommend that you give each child at least three bracelets or one necklace and two bracelets.
Clown Make-up Kits
A clown makeup kit also makes a wonderful, non-edible party favor. Basic clown makeup kits can be purchased through most costume or theatrical supply shops for less than $6 apiece. Depending on your budget, you may want to throw in a clown wig as well. Based on my experience, clown wigs can be purchased for less than $4 apiece.
