Tips on How to Find a Good Maid

There are still many who find it necessary on occasion to hire a maid. Some do it because they have a sick family member and could use the extra help. For others, they choose to do it because they feel overwhelmed with the amount of housework that needs to be done. Regardless of your reasons for hiring a maid, the point is you want to. How do you go about finding and hiring a good maid?

The first thing you will want to do is sit down and make a list of responsibilities that you want your maid to do. This should include everything that they will be responsible for. Next make a list of qualities that you would like your maid to have. For example do you prefer a maid who does not mind cleaning up after children? A maid who makes and uses their own natural cleaning products? This list is crucial when trying to find a good maid. Remember that your requirements are going to be different from anyone else’s, and not all maids are willing to work in all types of circumstances.

Once you have your list of responsibilities for the maid you will want to start your search. You can call up a cleaning agency that will be able to send you over a few applicants that match what you are looking for. This is a lot easier and safer than placing an advertisement in the paper. A paper advertisement will often attract anyone who is looking for a job, even those with no experience, and even worse. The agency will be able to weed throughout the cleaning people that they have and find one that is just right for you and your family. You can request that they send over several different applicants for you to interview. When you are ready to start interviewing the potential maid you will want to have your list ready. I would recommend that you also make up separate charts that will list what you are looking for. When they arrive put their name on the top of the sheet, and check off any qualities that they meet and any make a note of anything that really stands out about them.

Once you have made your decision you should let the agency know that you will be giving them a two week trial period. Be sure to have at least three favorites on your list just incase the one you have during the trial period does not work out. Some have even chosen to have each final applicant come spend the day with them, so that they can see how well they interact with family. It will also give you an opportunity to evaluate their overall cleaning ability. This may help you to make your final decision. When the applicants come to the house don’t be afraid to let them know exactly what you expect of them and how you want things to be.

By following the few suggestions listed above you should have no problem hiring a maid, to help with some of the chores in your home. Even if you will only be hiring a maid on a temporary basis these steps are vital to ensuring that you hire someone who will definitely get the job done the right way.
