Swheat Scoop Cat Litter Versus Fresh Step Scoopable Litter with New Odor Eliminating Carbon

Two months ago I downsized and moved into a smaller condo. I brought my two sweet kitties with me and they are having a blast. Meanwhile though, for two months I have been a maniac trying out different cat litters, like Swheat Scoop Cat Litter and Fresh Step Scoopable Litter with New Odor Eliminating Carbon to fight against their somewhat unpleasant deposits. Unfortunately I am one of those pet owners who refuses to quit feeding their cats canned fish flavored cat foods even though I know it will cause their litter to really smell. I have tried about fifteen different cat litters and I have to say I had the highest hope for the Sweat Scoop Cat Litter and the Fresh Step Scoopable Litter with New Odor Eliminating Carbon when I saw their advertisements. My eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store. Sad, but true. I had high hopes for both of these products, but each, like all of the others has its pluses and minus.

Smell is the most important factor I considered while using both the Swheat Scoop Cat Litter and the Swheat Scoop Cat Litter Versus Fresh Step Scoopable Litter with New Odor Eliminating Carbon. I mean how well it hid the smell left by my cats, not how it smelled coming out of the box. In general both the Swheat Scoop Cat Litter and the Fresh Step Scoopable Litter had either no or very little smell coming out of the box. I found that the Sweat Scoop Cat Litter did very well hiding the smell of the cat urine while the Fresh Step Scoopable Litter did a better job of covering the smell of cat feces.

Having realized this I decide to try mixing Swheat Scoop Cat Litter and Fresh Step Scoopable Litter with New Odor Eliminating Carbon together. Under the belief that the urine would settle to the bottom I tried putting a layer of the Swheat Scoop Cat Litter on the Bottom and an inch or two of the Fresh Step Scoopable Litter on top. I thought I had conquered the issue of litter in my small condo once and for all. Then came time to actually scoop out the litter box. To my dismay the Swheat Scoop Cat Litter formed clay like formations the bottom of the litter box that had to be scraped out with the litter scoop. It was gross. I tried rinsing the cat scoop off in the tub, which did not work. Finally to get the clay like stuff off of the scoop so I could hang it up I had to pull it off with a huge wad of paper towels. Not pleasant at all.

I do have to say that after I mixed the Swheat Scoop Cat Litter and Fresh Step Scoopable Litter with New Odor Eliminating Carbon together they did a great job of keeping the smells to a minimum. After two times of having to scrape the litter scoop clean I decided not to mix the Swheat Scoop Cat Litter and the Fresh Step Scoopable Litter together ever again.

Alone the Sweat Scoop Cat Litter just did not do a good enough job covering the feces smell to even warrant buying it. A 14-pound box of Sweat Scoop Cat Litter is very affordable at around $8.99. I have even found it on sale with an attached coupon on the box for $2.00 off. It is definitely less dusty than the Fresh Step Scoopable Litter with New Odor Eliminating Carbon, but alone I have to say the latter is the better of the two products.

A 14 lb box of Fresh Step Scoopable Litter with New Odor Eliminating Carbon can be bought for about $9.99 and is pretty much well worth the investment. Although somewhat dusty it does a great job of providing a clean smelling litter. The box exclaims that you can scoop the same litter for a month without having to change it, but I do not recommend this. I think two weeks is the maximum I have been able to go between dumping out the Fresh Step Scoopable Litter and starting fresh. I do have two cats though and only one litter box.
