Stained Glass Coffee Table

You can use our steps here to make your own stained glass table and base or simply paint your existing glass top coffee table to transform it into a stained glass work of art.

You can make this easy Stained Glass coffee table using your favorite Stained Glass art as inspiration and a little elbow grease. This simple Stained Glass coffee table would look great in a family room, living room, or even a home office.

You can make it for your own home over the weekend!

To make this Stained Glass coffee table you will need to spread it out over a couple days, so working over the weekend will probably work best. While you won’t be working on the Stained Glass craft project all day long, you do need to allow for time for materials to dry.

Be sure to buy your glass tabletop first and build your Stained Glass coffee table to fit it. This will save you a lot of time and money!

To Make a Stained Glass Coffee Table You Will Need:

Glass table top

Stained glass paint

Puff paint or peel and stick lead

4 sheets of plywood or MDF cut to the same size

8 L brackets

Primer

Paintbrushes

Hammered metal spray Paint

Ok, so the first step is to paint your glass coffee table top to look like stained glass. Trace your table top out on a piece of large news print or paper. Use this pattern to pre draw your stained glass pattern.

Now, lay your table top on top of the paper and start painting in your blocks of stained glass color.

Let this dry.

Now, cut out your peel and stick lead and start applying it to the table top covering the rough edges of your stained glass paint. You could also use puff paint in place of the peel and stick lead.

Now, on to building the coffee table. The first step is to measure your piece of glass tabletop. Everyone will have a different size, so I can only give you tips on how to know how large to make your Stained Glass Coffee Table base.

Make it slightly smaller than the Stained Glass tabletop. Now, measure how wide the tabletop is. If you have a circle tabletop, then mark out a square on it with painter’s tape. Measure this to get the dimensions for your tile table base.

Have your 4 pieces of MDF cut to size. A good height for a coffee table is 2.5 feet tall. You can make the square to fit your tabletop.

Now, the first step is to primer the front and back of your sheet of MDF or plywood. Let this dry, and then paint on a coat of hammered metal spray paint. This will carry on the stained glass theme.

Install L brackets to hold the four pieces together in a square. Install an L bracket at the top and bottom of each corner.

Stand the Hammered Metal Coffee Table base up and place your piece of round or square Stained Glass on top.
