Rodizio Grill in Denver, Colorado: Restaurant Review

Rodizio Grill lies nestled in the historic Icehouse building of downtown Denver, Colorado. This location is located close to Union Station, Coors Field, and the Pepsi Center. When you walk into Rodizio’s, one of the first things you notice are the three foot long skewers of mouth-watering meats circulating among tables by Brazilian gauchos. Friendly staff greets you and helps orient you to the rather “nontraditional” buffet process. Rodizio Grill offers a unique 30+ salad bar selection offering those bored with the traditional salad bar experience plenty of new variety. Choose an appetizer like the cinnamon-glazed bananas, or the Brazillian cheese bread to accompany your salad. When your ready, turn your cue to green and gauchos will start coming to your table with cuts of tender pork, bacon wrapped turkey, and top sirloin. When your finished with the 17 different rotating meats, turn your cue to red to stop the meat from coming and order some dessert. The Bolo Brigadeiro (chocolate cake) is by far the most popular dessert at Rodizio. This three layer chocolate cake is layered in chocolate sauce and is sure to melt in your mouth and leave you craving for more. Pair your dessert with one of Rodizio’s fantastic cocktail drinks.

At any given time, the crowd at Rodizio varies from professionals talking business over a weekday lunch, to high school students dressed up in tux and tie for a Saturday night formal. Rodizio is considered business casual dining. Elastic waistband pants are optional. Think of our favorite Friend Joey and his Thanksgiving Day Dinner maternity pants. Although they might draw the line there.

While kid-friendly, the cost might stop you from taking your little ones. The cost to eat here will set you back almost $50 with prices ranging from $31-$50 a person. It is fixed buffet pricing with drinks and desserts costing extra. Children will love watching the waiters go from table to table, but your littlest ones may bore easily after watching the waiters make their rounds after just a few times. You’ll spend at least an hour at the table itself dining which also makes it hard for littler ones to sit, but makes it great if you’re talking business over a lunch.

While searching reviews from TripAdvisor, City Search, and other dining review sites, Rodizio’s earned an average of 4 to 4 1/2 stars on a scale of 1-5. The two common complaints voiced were dry meat and long waits. Busier nights at Rodizio’s seemed to earn a few more complaints of dry meat from pickier eaters, although most still felt the food was considered ‘excellent’ and ‘above average’. Most people waited about 45 minutes on peak nights, and a few voiced complaints about making reservations ahead of time and still being forced to wait almost 30 minutes before they were seated.

Rodizio Grill is a fantastic, nontraditional Brazilian buffet offering a unique menu of foods and selection. Next time you’re in downtown Denver, or at their other location in Salt Lake City and are looking for a different dining experience, be sure to check out Rodizio’s. With friendly staff and delicious food you won’t be disappointed. Although not an everyday place to dine, this restaurant will be sure to become one of your top choices for date nights to business dining.
