Review of Ben & Jerry’s Creme Brulee Ice Cream

Ben & Jerry’s, the environmentally conscious, ice cream trendsetter from Vermont, has definitely created a winner with their fabulous French flavor, Crème Brule. This flavor is one of the newest flavors on the Ben & Jerry’s menu of sweet treats. Sweet, creamy and utterly decadent, Ben & Jerry’s Crème Brulee ice cream is a treat that will take your Friday night ice cream binge to a whole new level.

In the ever popular style of the rich, classic French dessert, Ben & Jerry’s pairs a thick, creamy, custard flavored ice cream with caramelized sugar. The caramelized sugar is liberally swirled throughout the ice cream. The custard ice cream is creamy and subtle, while the caramelized sugar is crispy and plentiful. The flavor is not overpowering or too sweet. The sugar has a definite crunch to it, and the contrast between the smoothness of the ice cream and that sweet crunch will have you wanting to eat more and more.

The only downfall of this sweet dessert is that it is not available in the light variety of Ben & Jerry’s. Each half cup serving packs in 310 calories and 17 grams of fat. On the bright side, one serving will tame almost any sweet tooth. On that note, try to avoid eating the whole pint in one sitting, as the novelty of this little delight may wear off more quickly than you think.

Crème Brulee is sold by the pint, and is usually sold for less than four dollars each. Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is available in most large grocery store chains nationwide. If you are having trouble locating that coveted pint of Crème Brulee ice cream that is calling your name, simply head to the Ben & Jerry’s website at www.benjerry.com to do a zip code search. . If you are looking for a more adventurous ice cream outing, head on down to a Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop, and have a scoop of Crème Brulee ice cream in a freshly baked, chocolate dipped waffle cone. Locations are also available on the website in the ‘Scoop Shop’ section.

If you are ready to trade in your Friday night double fudge for something with a little more international appeal, then pick up a carton of Ben & Jerry’s Crème Brulee ice cream. This lovely little dose of French flair is worth the extra mile you will have to run tomorrow.
