How to Make an Herbal Foot Bath

If you have tired, aching feet, suffer from foot odor or you just want to relax, try this method for making an herbal foot bath of your own. It’s easy, inexpensive and highly effective.

What You’ll Need to Make an Herbal Foot Bath

The ingredients you’ll need to make an herbal foot bath will vary depending on the type of foot bath you need. These ingredients will be discussed below.

Of course, you’ll need a foot tub. If you don’t have a specialty foot tub, you can use a large pot or any other container that can hold hot water. Make sure it’s large enough to hold your feet!

The second universal ingredient you’ll need to make an herbal foot bath is none other than water. Tap water, distilled water, spring water….it doesn’t matter as long as it’s water.

Herbal Foot Bath #1 – Soothing Tired Feet

If you work on your feet all day and you’re looking for a soothing foot bath to ease those tired feet, you’ll want to use the following ingredients:

1 – 1 ½ cups apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoon vegetable glycerin

5 – 10 drops essential oil (lavender or rosemary are recommended)

Mix all ingredients in your foot tub with enough water to fill it up. Don’t fill too full or your herbal foot bath may end up all over the floor when you submerge your feet. Soak your feet for 20 – 30 minutes.

Herbal Foot Bath #2 – Deodorizing Feet

If you suffer from foot odor, you’ll want to make an herbal foot bath that can eliminate odor and refresh your feet. Use the following ingredients:

½ cup baking soda

¼ cup dried peppermint

¼ cup dried lavender

5 drops lavender essential oil

5 drops peppermint essential oil

(You can also use 10 drops of only one of the essential oils if you don’t have both.)

Bring about six quartz of water to a boil then remove from heat. Add the peppermint and lavender, cover and let sit for 30 – 45 minutes. Strain the herbs from the liquid and add the resulting herbal tea to your foot tub. Mix in the baking soda and essential oils. Soak feet for 20 – 30 minutes. For best results, use this herbal foot bath daily to eliminate odor.

Herbal Foot Bath #3 – Relaxing Foot Bath

If you’re only goal when making an herbal foot bath is relaxation, you’ll want to use the following ingredients:

½(lavender or rosemary are recommended)

Fill your foot tub with hot water but not too much or your herbal foot bath might spill over when you submerge your feet. Add the essential oil and sea salt. Soak your feet in this herbal foot bath for 20 – 30 minutes.

If you have marbles, add them to the bottom of the foot tub and run your feet back and forth over them while soaking. This feels great but the herbal foot bath works just as well as a soak.
