Free Macrame Door Curtain Patterns

Back in the 60’s and 70’s, the hanging macrame door curtains were popular during these two decades. If you are a fan of some of the home decor from those two decades, the free macrame door curtain patterns can be used as a way to add some retro into your home.

These are just a few of the macrame door curtains from the 60’s and 70’s eras. There are the bead curtains that are synonymous with the 70’s. However, those are made differently than the macrame door curtains. I will try to find some free patterns for beaded door curtains for an article about those.

Even though these free macrame door curtain patterns have beads in them, they aren’t the same door curtains as the one seen in the Brady Bunch where Greg hippied up the den. I believe the beaded door curtain came into play again when the attic was turned into a bedroom for one of the Brady kids.

For example, if two children are sharing a bedroom, a couple of door curtain panels can be made to divide a sleeping area from a study area. They can be made to be placed in between the beds so the kids can feel as if they have a divided area away from their sibling.

The free macrame door curtain patterns can be used as a doorway for closing off a room that doesn’t have a door like I have between my dining room and kitchen since I don’t have an open floor plan. When we bought this house, the laundry room was where the dining room is now. Some older homes, like ours, have areas in these homes where doors aren’t on closets, doors and other areas where newer homes have doors.

There are a few other ways you can use these free macrame door curtain patterns. I was thinking they could be used as an exterior shower curtain. The could be hung on the shower curtain hooks and hung as a way to decorate a bathroom. It would be best to have a plastic interior shower curtain liner hung with the macrame door curtain so that one stays dry.

If you have floor to ceiling windows in an area of your home, the macrame door curtains could be hung to cover those windows. I know there are homes which have large picture windows in the living room.

This door curtain has a v-shape along the top. The fringe of the door curtain is beaded using macrame knots to hold them in place.

Elegant Entry Macrame Door Curtain Pattern

This door curtain has alternating colors with beads woven into it. The lengths of the panels are different.
