Father’s Day Crafts for Kids: How to Make Golf Club Socks for Dad

So, just about everyone I know is always looking for great father’s day crafts to keep the kids busy that can double as useful homemade Father’s Day gifts. I think these homemade golf club socks are the idea homemade Father’s Day gift for the Dad who loves to play golf!

Kids of all ages can make this simple homemade father’s day gift all buy themselves or even with a little help from Mom!

To Make these Homemade Golf Club Socks for Father’s Day You Will Need:

Fleece fabric or terry cloth fabric

Scissors

Markers

Paint pens

Any embellishments you want

Now, the kids will need to borrow some of Dad’s golf clubs, so you may want to help them with this step.

Lay out tour fabric on your table. Now, lay the golf club on top. Trace around the head of the golf club or putter. Trace loosely and try two leave about two to three inches around the golf club.

Now, put Dad’s golf clubs away. Return and cut out your golf club head patterns.

Take the patterns and lay them out on some more of your fabric, trace them, and cut them out.

Basically, you need to identical pieces of fabric for each golf club sock.

Now, lay the two pieces of the golf sock out on your table.

The kids can us puff paint, fabric paint, buttons, glitter, and more to decorate them.

Puff paint will need at least 24 hours to dry. The buttons can be sewn on by hand. Small patches with a golf theme or in letters to spell out either Dad’s name or the Golf Club number would be cute as well.

Now, once all of the embellishments have dried on the golf club sock cut outs they can be sewn together.

You have a few options here. No matter which option you choose you will need to face the sock pieces together, pattern side in.

Now, if you want you can use fabric glue to adhere the two sides of the golf club sock together. Be sure to outline close the deg of one sock and then press the other into it. Let dry for 24 hours.

Now, you can also help the ids sew these golf club socks together on the sewing machine. Kids as young as 8 probably could easily sew a straight line on a sewing machine! Be sure to help the kid’s pin the golf club socks together before they sew. They should also avoid sewing the opening on the sock shut or Dad will not be able to slip his Father’s Day gift on his golf club.

Finally, no sew products are also an option. Kids will need to use an iron for this. I recommend lining the edge of the golf club socks with the no sew, then pin them together. Iron them down and remove the pins.

Turn the Father’s Day golf club socks inside out and you can wrap them for Dad!
