Baked Bean Comparison : Bush’s Best Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans Vs B&M; Maple Flavor Baked Beans

Hot dogs are one of my favorite food items and I eat them on a regular basis. Alongside hot dogs I frequently eat various brands of canned baked beans. Within the past month I have had the opportunity to eat two different brands of maple-flavored baked beans and I think that a comparison of the two items would provide for an interesting article.

Presented here is an article which compares Bush’s Best Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans and B&M; Maple Flavor Baked Beans.

The regular retail price charged for one 28 ounce can of Bush’s Best Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets ranges between $2.69 and $2.99. When I purchased a can of these beans they were on sale for $1.99 per can.

Each of these varieties of maple-flavored baked beans offers a pleasing consistency. To me, the B&M; beans seem just a little softer than the Bush’s Best beans but they’re definitely not mushy.

The Bush’s Best Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans are accented by a good amount of little pieces of bacon which add more appetizing texture.

B&M; Maple Flavor Baked Beans are somewhat thicker in consistency than the Bush’s beans but the firmer beans in the Bush’s Best product are quite appealing.

While both the Bush’s Best Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans and B&M; Maple Flavor Baked Beans offer maple flavors, I think I like the maple flavor in the B&M; beans better.

Both of these brands of baked beans are fairly sweet but the Bush’s Best beans taste slightly sweeter than the B&M; beans to me even though the B&M; beans contain slightly more sugar. In a way the Bush’s beans taste more like maple syrup to me and the B&M; beans taste more like they contain deep, baked-in maple flavor with a touch of molasses. Although I really like the addition of bacon pieces in the Bush’s beans, the maple flavor in the B&M; beans seems a little more balanced than the maple flavor in the Bush’s Best beans.
