Audiovox Slim Portable DVD Player Product Review

About three years ago I received a portable DVD player for Christmas. Well just a short time later, it died on me and since there was a warranty with it, I received a check in the mail. I decided to purchase another portable DVD player but wanted to try a different brand for obvious reasons. That lead me to the Audiovox D2010, 10.2 inch hi-fi slim line portable DVD player. Something at the current moment, I can’t live without. It has many great features.

A portable DVD player by nature is very versatile and can virtually work with everyone from kids to grandparents. You can take it to work or school. Use it while you are driving in the car or perhaps bring it on vacation. The first feature I love with my Audiovox is the larger LCD screen. I had opted for the largest screen on the market and this one was about two inches larger than my previous player. A 10.2 inch player is a little more difficult to find as nowadays the 7 to 9 inch are the ones you see in stores. I suppose they figure smaller is better. I probably wouldn’t have been interested in a 10.2 inch size had it not been for the ultra slim LCD screen which is another great feature to have. It’s not bulky or heavy. The entire player itself weighs just a little over three pounds so you don’t feel like you’re carrying around luggage. The LCD screen is a 16:9 aspect ratio and the colors are clear and bright. Still another great feature is the rechargeable battery. It lasts for almost 3 hours of playback but in case you do need to recharge it, this player comes with two adapters. Your regular AC/DC one and a car adapter that you plug into your cigarette lighter. It takes about five hours or so to recharge. I also like the wireless remote control with this Audiovox portable DVD player particularly because of it’s size. It’s a little thicker than a credit card. I guess they decided to use the slim feature there as well. It also has built in high quality stereo speakers and two headphone jacks for more than one person. Another feature I love with the Audiovox portable DVD player is the fact that it has an IR wireless headphone transmitter. Unfortunately it’s an accessory that didn’t come with the player itself but it did come with a car headrest mountable bag. Very convenient for long car ride trips if you have kids. Also the Audiovox portable DVD player can play your standard compact discs or writable ones and even Kodak picture compact discs!

I only have two very small complaints about the Audiovox portable DVD player. Well the first one, isn’t actually Audiovox’s fault. I’ve had an extremely difficult time in finding a carrying case for this size of a player. I haven’t come across one yet. The closest one was a 10 inch one. So I had to opt for a laptop case which is too large for it but it will do for now until I can find something else more suited. My second complaint with the Audiovox portable DVD player is the sound. I find it a little low. I’ve had many times where I find it is turned up all the way and still I have problems hearing. Other than those two small issues, I love my Audiovox portable DVD player! I’ve got a three year warranty on this and I’ve had to use it once. It was shipped to the manufacturer and was sent promptly back and played like there was never anything wrong with it. The Audiovox portable DVD player a little higher priced than most, being over 300 dollars but I still feel it’s worth it and besides, technically it was a gift.
