At Home Tips for Conceiving a Boy

Are you planning to conceive a baby in the near future and dreaming of the color blue? If so, the following are some tips for you and your partner to try. Of course, they are not 100% accurate, but they are cheaper options to try at home instead of paying for artificial insemination.

TIPS FOR THE MOM-TO-BE

1. Ovulation test – These are cheap over-the-counter tests that indicate when you are ovulating. There are many different brands to choose from and typically cost around $30 for a 30 day supply. If trying to conceive a boy it is best to try on the day you ovulate and have about a 12-24 hour window to keep trying. Boy sperm are faster swimmers than girl sperm, but they do not live as long. With the ovulation test you can pinpoint when you are ovulating therefore making your attempt to conceive a boy easier. If you try too soon before you ovulate you might wind up with a girl. You can also try to keep track of this on your own by watching and documenting your menstrual cycle for several months prior to trying to conceive.

2. Ph test – These are cheap tests that may be harder to find over-the-counter. They can be purchased without a prescription online or check with a local pharmacy to see if they have them in stock or if they can order them. You can test either your saliva or urine to check the acidity of it. If trying to conceive a boy you need your body to be alkaline. Boy sperm prefer an alkaline environment whereas girl sperm prefer an acidic environment. First you dip the strip in your urine or salvia then compare your strip to the numbered strip provided so you know what level you are. For boys you should try to be around the 7-9 range; which is greenish-blue on the color strip.

3. Potassium – Taking potassium supplements can help make your body more alkaline.

4. Foods – Certain foods can also help make your body more alkaline. Some of these include: potatoes, red meat, peas, eggs, bread, bananas and corn.

5. Cervical mucus – You can chart the changes in your cervical mucus to see if you are close to ovulating. The mucus should shift to a thicker, cloudier state around ovulation time .

6. Basal body temperature – You can chart you basal body temperature to see if you are close to ovulating. Your temperature should take a dip when you are ovulating.

TIPS FOR THE DAD-TO-BE

1. Loose fitting underwear – It has been said that if trying to conceive a boy that the man should wear loose fitting underwear such as boxers. This helps keep the area cooler and less restricted, which is supposed to help the sperm swim.

2. Cool shower or bath – Room temperature is probably okay; just not warm or hot.

3. Caffeine – It is supposed to give the sperm a jolt and help them swim to have caffeine 15-30 minutes before sex.

TIPS FOR BOTH PARTNERS

1. Position – Deep penetration leaves the sperm closer to the cervix and gives the boy sperm a better chance of fertilizing the egg before the girl sperm.

2. Orgasm – The woman should have an orgasm. This helps make her cervical fluid more plentiful and alkaline.

These are just tips I have been told by other people or saw on the internet. I am by no means a doctor or trying to promote these methods. You should consult with your doctor if you are trying to conceive and have questions.
