8 Great Places in Orlando, Florida for a Party or a Date

1. Cafe Tu Tu Tango : Located on International Drive, its one of the few I-Drive haunts that locals make the trip to. With a menu filled with ecclectic fare, everyone shares appetizers instead of individual meals. Some of my personal favorites include Roasted Pears on Pecan Crisps, Baby Chipotle Lobster Tails and the Mediterranean Spinach Dip, can we say “yummy!” They also have a group menu for planning in advance. The walls are adorned with all kinds of artwork, for sale to boot! They usualy have one or two artists actually there creating before your very eyes. Roving entertainers like Belly Dancers, and BallRoom Dancers make their way through the restaurant every 30 minutes or so to give the joint a boost of energy. They do parties, and they do them well. The staff is outgoing, the food hard to forget. It’s a great party atmosphere, so don’t be surprised if you hear your guests making plans to return before they are even out the door. www.cafetututango.com

2. Hard Rock Cafe : Located at Universal City Walk, this the largest Cafe Hard Rock has built to date. Depending on the size of your party they do have some private rooms available, as well as a second floor of the restaurant. With more memorabillia then you can imagine, guests often eat and self tour around the restaurant. The waitstaff is always zany and fun. Food is reasonably priced, think Bennigans but a step up. They have been known to also offer guided tours of the memorabilla so be sure and ask. If you are planning your party ahead you might also want to check out who is playing next door at Hard Rock Live, nothing like dinner and a show!

3. The Melting Pot : Fondue Restaurant located on Sandlake. The fondue itself makes for a great party. A classy yet fun party with guaranteed delicious eats. They offer chicken, shrimp, scallops, beef or combinations. Their house salad dressing is to die for and yes they sell it to go in botttles. Be sure and leave room for the Chocolate Fondue dessert. It’s a great place for a group, but can also become romantic for a party of two!

4. The Orlando Improv : Located Downtown Orlando, grab the gang and get ready for some laughs and good food. They do bring in some great headliners! They also have a second floor that can be used for private parties. The food is actually very good, though it is a limited menu. Dishes include Baked Mediterranean Chicken, New York Strip Steak and Macadamia Salmon. If you are looking more for munchies check out their openers that range from a basket of sweet potato fries, breaded fried shrimp or warm soft pretzels. 5. Crazy Buffet– Depending on the size of your party they do have some larger private rooms. Don’t let the name fool you, the food is wonderful. A buffet that offers something for everyone. They have a Sushi Bar, Hibachi Grill, seafood, salad, soups and a decadent dessert bar. Their motto holds true, ” If you think it’s crazy to be able to combine fine dining and all-you-can-eat buffet…just visit Crazy Buffet for an amazing dining experience.

6. Bahama Breeze – Another popular International Drive restaurant, with Caribbean flavor. Lots of decadent seafood dishes along with chicken and beef dishes as well. Crowd pleasers include Bahamian Grilled Steak Kabobs, Seafood Paella, and the Wood-grilled angus Burger. Outdoor entertainment keeps the “long wait” short and makes for a fun evening. Get their early to avoid a long long wait. However, I can say this…..it’s worth the wait and many do! Check out www.bahamabreeze.com

7. Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville at Universal City Walk.- Universal City Walk can be alot of fun, lots of restaurants, a few shops but be aware you have to park in a parking garage and it is a bit of walk to reach the festivities so wear comfy shoes! Jimmy’s ode to the Keys has much to offer. Tasty seafood like crap cakes and shrimp pasta.
A popular favorite is conch fritters served with Cajun remoulade. Enjoy live music mix of the best of Buffet’s music videos and live Key West flavored bands. Of course no party would be complete at Margaritaville with a helping of Key lime pie!!

8. Dixie Crossroads Seafood Restaurant- Located in The Festival Bay Mall at International Drive, this restaurant is known for its amazing seafood. If there in season, there is no question, have the Rock shrimp. They taste like tiny lobster and you can choose Key West or Old Bay seasoning. They start you would with little round corn fritters sprinkled in powdered sugar….they are addicting so be sure to leave room for your dinner. If you are more in the mood for a variation of seafood, they offer combos of shrimp, scallops, crab legs and or lobster. I promise you leave stuffed! Great waitstaff and food make for a great time!

Whether you are planning a party or a first date, all of these restaurants are sure to please.
