Yankee Candle’s Juicy Watermelon Wax Tart is Great With These Burning Tips

I have always had a liking towards wax tart burners, and wax tarts or oil scents to burn in the burners. (Say that 3 times fast!)

Yankee Candle Company has always been one of my all time favorite spots to pick up burning oils and tarts. They have the largest collection and selection of different types of scent. Not only that the scents are fantastic, they are strong, and they last a really long time.

A few months ago while browsing through the Yankee Candle outlet store in our local Tanger Outlet mall, I came across a sale on their wax tarts. Usually each wax burning tart comes to about $2.00, but with a buy one get one sale going on, I had to pick up a few of the sweet Reese’s peanut butter cup shaped wax tarts.

I was in a spring mode that day for some reason, and I went with a bunch of fruity scented tarts…one in particular I am about to discuss is their Juicy Watermelon Wax Tart.

The tart itself is sealed with plastic and has a round sticker on top of it. The sticker shows a photo of fresh cut summer time watermelon. I sniffed the tart through the seal and liked it. I have burned the candle before, and knew the tart would smell just like it.

The scent:

It seriously smells like actual watermelon, only a wee bit sweeter. It’s very realistic though, and does not smell like that sugary bubble gum crap that most watermelon scented products smell like. It is realistic, which makes it sort of subtle.

My Use:

I had never burned Juicy Watermelon as a tart before, and I hoped it smelled nice. I have burned Yankee tarts before that were sort of weak compared to their big sister candle jars. Seeing how Juicy Watermelon is sort of a weak candle, I was hoping the tart was not weaker.

I got home, cut off the seal and placed the sweet watermelon. I then cut the tart in half. I find that cutting tarts in half and saving the rest allow for the scent to last longer. I have burned tarts before, and if you do not use the entire tart in one sitting when you go to relight it and warm it up, the scent lacks, and at times smells bad.

I plopped one half of the tart into my wax burner and waited for the tea light to begin to melt it. Within a good 15 minutes the tart had melted completely into a liquid. Over time I could smell the Juicy Watermelon scent throughout my room. It was identical to the candle, subtle, yet enjoyable and noticeable.

It lasted through the entire life of the tea light. I used it again afterward, but the scent lacked. Just as I had known it would.

Seeing how I only tend to burn tarts an hour or two at a time, I now plan on cutting my tarts into thirds. This way the scent will remain fresh and new every time I burn another piece.

Overall:

The Yankee Candle Juicy Watermelon tart is a nice scented wax tart, so long as you save it the way I recommend. Cut it in half, or into thirds. The tart overall will give nearly 8 hours of burning time. However if you let the candle go out, and let the wax harden and re-use it, you only get as much time as you let it burn for the first time when it melted.

These tarts are not meant to be -re-lit and re-melted. Yankee however fails to tell you about that.
