Where to Buy Verizon Bluetooth Headsets

When I and my new wife combined our Verizon contracts into a “family share plan” last fall, we also acquired Bluetooth enabled cell phones. Neither of us had ever had these modern marvels before and, frankly, I figured we could never afford the Bluetooth headsets to go with them.

I went looking, just out of curiosity you understand, to see how much they would set me back. I work for the Commonwealth of Virginia and my job requires me to do a lot of driving, all over the state, so I have a need for some form of hands free device. I just did not have a need to shell out big bucks for it. I checked Best Buy and could not afford the $80-$200 price tags they had on Bluetooth. I checked Wal-Mart online, Target online and eBay. Surprisingly, their prices were not too bad but you had to order online to get the best deals.

If I was going to be looking at ordering online I figured I might as well look at Verizon’s own website. Surprisingly, they had the best deal of all matching the nearest competitor, Target, in price and then having cheaper shipping.

I ordered two Motorola H500 Bluetooth headsets, me for myself and one for my wife. The cost was about $49 each. I also ordered an accessory package for our phones at the same time thus saving money on shipping. I was delighted to find that the same charger, which worked with our Motorola L7c cell phones, also worked with the new Motorola H500 Bluetooth headsets. This was a win-win for me all the way around.

Now, as I have stated, prior to ordering from Verizon I checked around at various stores. I also checked the “Moto Store,” Motorola’s online direct purchase website. They were the second most expensive place I looked, behind Best Buy.

The other place I looked was eBay. If I had really taken the time I probably could have gotten a better deal on eBay but I rarely but items with which I am unfamiliar at an online auction. If you do try to purchase a Bluetooth set this way, make certain the seller has a long and positive feedback. This equates to a good business reputation. Also, make sure they clearly state their shipping costs upfront. Many sellers offer items at ridiculously cheap prices and then try to make up for it by slapping the buyer with some outrageous “shipping and handling charge.” Just use common sense and be cautious if you try to purchase at an online auction, there are good deals there but there are rip offs too.

My bottom line advice is, go to the source for your Bluetooth headset. Just check with Verizon first and then shop around a bit. I will guess that Verizon will at least be in the ball park for the cheapest price. Good luck in your search.
