Vintage Kitchen Spice Rack Craft Project

To Make This Vintage Kitchen Spice Rack Craft Project You Will Need:

Small Jars (with the lids)

1 piece of bead board sheeting

Screws

Power drill

Silver paint pen

Spray paint (you choose color and this is optional)

Industrial picture hanging hardware (optional)

Vintage fabric

Small clear rubber bands

Primer

Paint

The first step is to have your bead board cut to size. You can make this Vintage Kitchen Spice Rack Craft Project as large or as small as you want for your shabby chic kitchen. I think that 2X3 feet are a great size though. Be sure to measure your open wall space though so you can custom fit your Vintage Kitchen Spice Rack Craft Project to your own kitchen.

Now, you want to choose real wood bead board, not the fake wood sheeting. You need some stability here. IF you use the fake bead board sheeting, just have a piece of plywood cut to the same size and use wood glue to adhere the beadboard sheeting to the plywood.

Now, you want to primer and paint out your beadboard in any color you want for your shabby chic or retro kitchen.

Let this dry.

While your Vintage Kitchen Spice Rack Craft Project is drying you can work on your jars. Baby food jars are the perfect size for spices, but you can really use any small jars you want.

If you buy pre made jars with cute lids, then you can skip this step.

Use a stainless steel or hammered metal spray paint to paint the baby food jar lids inside and out. You could also use one of the rust kits to make rusty looking lids.

Once these dry seal them with a clear acrylic spray paint, about 2 coats.

Now, Lay your baby food jar lids out on your beadboard.

Space them evenly and in rows.

Drill through the baby food jar lid into the beadboard creating a hole.

Use your small screw to attach the jar lid to the beadboard wall plaque.

Repeat until your have covered the entire beadboard sheet with the lids.

Now, cut out your vintage fabric into small squares with pinking sheers, they need to be a few inches wider than the mouth of your jars.

Fill your jars with spices or whatever.

Place the small fabric squares over the jars, pattern side down. Hold in place with a clear rubber band. Choice small rubber bands so they are only on there once.

Now, screw on the jars.

Now, to hang this on the wall you can install industrial picture hanging hooks on the back of the Vintage Kitchen Spice Rack Craft Project. You could also simple drill 4 holes in the corners of the Vintage Kitchen Spice Rack Craft Project. Slip screws in and attach directly to the wall.
