Using Eugenol Oil

I like watching “Billy the Exterminator” for a number of reasons. It is entertaining, interesting and you learn things from him about bug control. Billy, Ricky, Donnie, and Big Bill all take the time to educate you. They explain the products they are using and how they plan on getting rid of the problem bugs and animals that have invaded your yard and home. But then Vexcon is a different company. There is no job too big, or too small or too yucky. They will take any job and show up when other exterminator companies won’t.

Cockroach Problems

The crew of Vexcon uses natural pesticides, such as Eugenol oil, that will get rid of your cockroach problem. Eugenol oil is made from clove oil which is extracted from dried flower buds, leaves and stems of the Syzygium aromanicum, Eugenia caryoophyllata and Eugenia aromaticum trees. The trees use their Eugenol oil as a natural built-in defense mechanism to keep the insects away. Eugenol oil is a natural and safe way to rid of other insects, such as spiders in your house, garage or yard without causing harm. It has the fragrance of Christmas, so you can spray for bugs and no one will even know. This product is safe to use around children, livestock and pets, but it is toxic to use around fish.

Eugenol Oil

So how does it work? The Eugenol oil breaks down the insect’s exoskeleton, which is their outside covering. You can use Eugenol oil to kill American cockroaches, but if you have German cockroaches, you need to use Eugenol oil alone with some gel bait. You put pea size drops of the gel bait in the cracks and crevices of your cabinets and walls, but unlike Eugenol oil the gel bait is poisonous, so you need to be careful and put it where your kids or pets won’t find it and eat it.

If you want to kill lice, beetles or weevils, you may need to have a higher concentration of Eugenol oil or you can use Eugenol oil and pesticidal oil together for effective treatment. For most insects, the Eugenol oil will kill them without having to spray each one individually, except for brown recluse spiders. These spiders are highly poisonous, but in order to kill them you need to spray them directly.

If you watch Billy the Exterminator, he sprays the Eugenol oil on wasps and in their holes or nests and the Eugenol oil will continue to work, killing any wasps that enter at a later date. But when treating cockroaches, he sprays with Eugenol oil, vacuums up the cockroaches and puts down pea size drops of gel bait around the home. Then he vacuums all the roaches up that he finds into a special vacuum. In reading through the Billy sites, one of his worst jobs was doing a 15 storey apparent building with 100,000 roaches inside.

Cockroaches like Pressboard

While watching one episode of “Billy the Exterminator”, Billy explained that cockroaches like to eat the glue in pressboard, which mobile homes composed of. I am sure that manufacturers know this, so it makes me wonder why they would use this kind of glue in the first place. Of course, mobile homes aren’t the only ones with pressboard; it seems that most of our modern cabinets and furniture are made from this substance. A good idea, if they want to use that type of glue would be to mix some Eugenol oil into it.

Health Problems Cockroaches Cause

Cockroaches can cause respiratory problems and asthma, because their body parts become airborne when they die. Cockroaches can also cause typhoid, dysentery and botulism. They carry disease-causing bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, coliforms. When the cockroaches feed on contaminated food, the disease bacteria remains in their digestive for a month or more. Cockroaches also carry disease-causing fungi, and the cockroaches can cause Salmonella food poisoning. The salmonella bacteria can survive in the cockroach feces for several years and can contaminate food, eating utensils or anything else that comes in contact with this matter.
What I like about Billy the Exterminator is, he not only kills the bugs, he does it in a way that is not hazardous to humans and pets. He fixes the problem areas in your home, so the animals or bugs won’t come back.Sources:
