Wicked Weasel Bathing Suits

My daughter recently had a group of friends over for her 14^th birthday party. They all were talking about the latest fads and gadgets. The talk came up of all the girls going to the beach. One asked the other if she had a wicked weasel yet. I was very confused, as was my daughter. We proceeded to ask what a wicked weasel was. The young girl stated, “Just the hottest bikini swimsuit company in the world.” As teen girls often do, the topic changed quickly to something else. I am a rather conservative Mom, so wanted to make sure that it was ok for her to have a bathing suit from this company as I had never heard of them before.

The next day, I thought I would check out what a wicked weasel bikini was. Maybe some sort of new style, a pretty style, with conservative sides to the bottom? Well, the name wicked should have given it away. I proceeded to search the internet and found a supposedly relatively new company, called Wicked Weasel. From what I can see, they might as well not sell bathing suits, because there isn’t much to their swimwear. The site is advertised as selling micro bikinis and g- string bikinis. The web site states that they are made in Byron Bay, Australia.

My question is, how can 14 year old girls know what this is, and how do they get by with asking for such a bathing suit? When I showed my daughter what her friends were talking about, she was appalled. She wears a bikini, but insists on wearing a t-shirt over it for modesty. She could not believe that parents would even let their children look at such. When my daughter mentioned this to one of her friends, she said, her Mother knew about it, and approved it as long as the bathing suit covered enough. Evidentially the Mom didn’t check it out, because none of the bathing suits covered enough.

It is a shame that parents are so busy and overworked, that they can’t take the time to see what their children are doing on the internet. If you monitor your child’s internet and their life, you would know what they were up to. This experience was an eye opening event for my daughter to wake her up to what a lot of young girls are interested in. Most people have the internet, so the girls must have checked it out. Luckily that night they all stayed, the internet was off limits to the girls. We watched movies that night.

My warning is to parents of young ladies is to be ever so vigilant to what the world constantly throws at our young women. And be even more vigilant about what they watch. There is a time to let them go, but 14 is not that age. Our young people, particularly girls, grow up way to fast. Let’s maintain their innocence for as long as we can.
