Unforgettable Summer Wedding Ideas

If you are looking for a way to make your summer wedding, shall we say, quirky, then you are in luck. The warm weather lends itself to breathtaking views, heart pounding excitement, and freshly “made” flowers.

Think Tall, Really Tall

As long as you love mountains, are not scared of heights, and wouldn’t mind running into some Bighorn Sheep, then you may want to consider getting married at the top of Mt. Evans in Colorado. Granted, it may be a bit of a trek to reach the 14, 264 ft. summit, but you can be assured you will have incredible views. If you want to make this experience more accessible for other guests (and not be tired and sweaty before the ceremony has begun), you may want to get married at Dear Creek Valley Ranch in Bailey, Colorado. Here you will find a lake-side gazebo, a fully restored barn, and of course, a gorgeous view of Mt. Evans.

Amuse Your Guests

Anyone who has been to an amusement park recalls both the joy and pain (funnel cake and spinning rides do not mix) of this summer pastime. If you are looking to create an unforgettable experience, without the taste of day-old hot dog in your mouth, consider getting married at Busch Gardens in Florida. Designed to accommodate a small group or parties up to 800 guests, you will be treated like royalty with fine wines and champagne, dinner, photographers, and entertainment. Weddings here are planned before or after park hours, so you don’t have to worry about people crashing your party. As an added bonus, you get unlimited access to the park for the day. Keep in mind, having a wedding that is away from the majority of your guests will most likely mean more expenses for all.

Vow to Include Your Guests

The guests attending your wedding know you best, why not have them help you with your vows? In many marriage ceremonies, the guests are asked to offer their love and support for the couple by saying “We Will” or “We Do”. Another approach is to send a note card out with your invitations and ask each guest to write down one vow they believe is important for a successful marriage. When you get the responses back, you can decide what to include in your ceremony and which ones need to be thrown out the window (i.e. vows from your uncle who has been married six times).

Life-size Decorations

Who needs flowers you can hold when you can make flowers as tall as you? The DIY website Design Sponge (courtesy of Ruche), teaches you how to make giant tissue paper blooms that will keep every guest enchanted. While these amazing works of art are beautiful, they require an incredible amount of work to make. So, unless you have incredible time-management skills and love to drink Red-Bull, you may want to buy them from the designer or scale-down your version.

Go Raw

For those of you who prefer to keep things on the lighter side, a raw food menu will surely keep your guests from having to undo their belts. Summer is great time for finding fresh ingredients and trying new recipes. Not all caterers are used to preparing a raw menu, so you will have to be specific with your wants and needs. And remember, not all people are crazy about a raw diet. So, unless all of your guests are hard-core raw food fans, you might want to consider providing other food options.
