Will smith’s road to stardom began as the MC of the hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. I grew up knowing Will Smith as a rapper and for the comedy TV series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. As an adult I got the pleasure of witnessing the rapper evolve into a phenomenal actor, film producer, record producer, television producer. Will Smith starred in many blockbuster films and won multiple Grammy awards. I recommend the following top 5 Will Smith movies.

Seven Pounds

Seven Pounds released in 2008 is just not one of my top 5 Will Smith movies, but my favorite movie of all time. This emotional drama left me in a crying mess when Will Smith’s character “Ben Thomas” unleashed his devastating secret. This movie makes the top of the list because no other movie can compare to the sad experience that Will Smith’s character endured. He truly felt justified for the planning in taking his own life to seek redemption by giving to 7 strangers for the 7 lives he accidently took away. This movie is also the ultimate love story since he falls in love with one of the sick 7 strangers and makes sure she gets his donated heart in the end.

I Am Legend

I Am Legendreleased in 2007 is a movie filled with intense action, gross violence and carnivores that kept me clued to the screen. The reason why I chose this movie as one of the top 5 Will Smith movies is because science fiction violent vampiric movies have never interested me. However, after being forced to watch it by my 4 sons hogging the TV, I immediately was drawn in, making this movie one of my top 5 Will Smith movies.

Ali

Alireleased in 2001 is based on the life of heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali. A biography movie
about Muhammad Ali was long overdue by this point. So finally honoring Ali with a movie well played by Will Smith and the all-star cast indeed made this one of my top 5 Will Smith movies.

Enemy of the State

Enemy of the State released in 1998 is about an innocent man played by Will Smith accidentally getting caught up in a corrupt political scheme. I just can’t get enough of watching this movie every time it comes on TV. The loads of non-stop action, twists and high-tech gadgets in this movie really makes me wonder how really private are our lives.

Bad Boys II

Bad boys II released 2003 is a movie packed with action, violence and comical scenes. Choosing Will Smith and Martin Lawrence to play two Miami Detectives was an excellent choice that kept my belly rolling with laughter. The two talented actors and comedians made 2 great movies together making this sequel to Bad Boys one of my top 5 Will Smith movies.
