Tips on Traveling by Train Across Europe

Travel between European countries is quick, easy, and affordable on one of the Europe’s many rail lines. More cost-effective than flying, European railways offer excellent customer service, great package deals for travelers, and beautiful views of the one-of-a-kind European countryside. Train travel between any of the many European countries is safer and easier than driving or flying, and usually much more enjoyable for vacationers.

Train travel is extremely common throughout Europe, where there are so many beautiful countries to visit that are easily reached on rail lines. Anyone can pre-book train travel without a lot of hassle or planning. In fact, most European rail lines offer package deals that allow travelers to visit any number of European counties in a matter of days -anywhere over land you can imagine, European railways will take you there.

Rail Europe, one of the country’s largest rail lines, offers guests gourmet meals, private sleepers, and exceptional service. Rail Europe offers several different “classes” of travel, including economy, freedom, comfort, and premiere. Passengers can also save money by taking advantage of one of Rail Europe’s many different rail passes, which allow travelers to save money and go to many different European locations.

Eurail, one of Europe’s largest rail systems, offers five different types of train travel passes. Riding on Eurail, travelers can visit eighteen different European countries. Eurail passengers can choose between locations in Belguim, Denmark, Finland, France (including Monaco), Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the Republic of Ireland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Eurail lets train travelers experience a complete European tour, offering several different packages.

The Eurailpass gives train travelers unlimited rail travel in the eighteen countries mentioned above, for fifteen days (up to three months in a row). A 1st class, fifteen day pass costs only $605 USD, $785 for twenty-one days, $975 for one month of travel, $1,378 for two months, and $1,703 for three months of travel. The Eurailpass Saver package is great for two or more people traveling together. To book 1st class train travel between eighteen countries on this pass costs only $513 USD for fifteen days, up to $1,450 USD for three months of train travel.

It’s easy to book train travel when train travelers use a Eurail pass. The Eurailpass Flexi offers travelers unlimited travel for ten to fifteen days in eighteen European countries within a two-month span of time. The Flexi pass allows train travelers to ride along major shipping lines and railways throughout Europe. Flexi pass train travelers do not have to use their days consecutively, only within a two-month time frame.

Train travel on a Eurail Flexi pass entitles riders to many different bonuses and added features. Reduced passage on ferries and buses is offered, as well as reduced rates on car rental, hotel accommodations, museum excursions, even bicycle rental – all because of the Eurail Flexi pass.

Book train travel from Marseille to Paris, from Paris to Geneva, from Bordeaux to Strasbourg – the Eurailpass Flexi allows train travelers to go almost anywhere in Europe that can be reached by rail. The 1st class passage, good for ten days of travel within two months, costs $715 USD per adult. For fifteen days of travel within two months, the price for one adult is $940 USD. The 1st class Eurailpass Saver Flexi (good for two or more adults riding together) costs $608 USD for ten days of travel within a two month time frame. For fifteen days inside two months, the price is only $800 USD.

Booking train travel is also easily done with a Eurail Selectpass. With this special offer, train travelers can choose between three, four, or five bordering European countries and can travel for five, six, eight, ten, or fifteen days within a two-month time frame. All Eurail Selectpass purchases of six days or more come with an extra day of travel – free of charge. With this pass, travelers can book train travel between select countries, out of a choice of no less than twenty-two European countries including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Eurail Selectpass travelers can book train travel in an almost unlimited amount of combinations – over four hundred. Bonuses, including reduced transportation and hotel rental, are included with the Eurail Selectpass.

For those travelers who want to visit a smaller part of Europe in a slightly shorter time frame, the Eurail Regional Pass offers sixteen different country combinations to book train travel between many different cities. Passengers with the Regional Pass can travel from four to ten days, within a two month time frame, on an unlimited basis. Those who book train travel with the Eurail Regional pass can visit two or more bordering countries. From Paris to Geneva, and all the surrounding cities, train travel on the Eurail Regional Pass is easy and affordable for vacationers.

Eurail Regional Passes are available for 1st class travelers, individually or together in a group. Regional passes include country combinations from Austria to Slovenia or Croatia, Austria to Switzerland, France to Germany, France to Italy, Germany to Austria, Greece to Italy, and many more. Book train travel from Bordeaux To Lille, from Paris to Geneva, or any of the other cities on the Regional list with the Eurail Regional pass.

Travelers can also choose the Eurail National Pass, which offers completely unlimited travel within a single country. Travelers can see more of a single European country with this pass. Passengers with the National pass can travel from three to ten days, within two months, in one of ten different countries.

Eurail offers many different options, discounts, and routes for train travelers who want to see more of what Europe has to offer. Eurail Passes are not available for residents from Europe, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, or the Russian Federation.
