The PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System Versus the Brita on Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System

Water filters like the PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System and the Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System are by far one of the latest American trends that has truly become almost the norm in homes across the nation. It is very rare indeed to meet someone who just drinks water straight out of the faucet. PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System and the Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System quickly filter water, rendering it devoid of unusual tastes or smells. I have moved quite a few times in my life and I have to say that I appreciate the affordable ease that most faucet mount water filters, like the PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System and the Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System, allow me to have uniformly good tasting water no matter where I live. There is nothing more depressing than going to the sink for a glass of water only to pour it out in disgust. Even worse is to cook something like rice or pasta and have the unusual taste associated with a specific city’s water ruin the entire dish. I definitley rely on the Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System and the PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System to eliminate these unusual tastes and odors no matter which city I a living in.

PUR and Brita have a stronghold in this competitive market and really dominate. Most consumers know and trust both of these companies and would not hesitate to buy product form either one. I have relied on two different faucet mount water filters over the past few years: the PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System and the Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System. Each of them has their pluses and their minuses. I have kept purchasing these specific faucet mount water filters for a couple reason. The first would be ease of installation. Secondly, how they leave the water tasting. Finally, I continue to purchase them based on how long they continue to filter water.

Ease of Installation

Ok, there is nothing worse than spending $30 on a water filter system that is supposed to easily mount on your existing faucet only to find that it does not contain the proper mounting pieces. Yes, I know this has happened to just about everyone I know. The PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System has mounted quickly and easily to every sink I have ever had. It comes with three different attachment pieces that look like small washers for lack of a better term. Unfortunately I have had one sink that the Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System did not mount to. I had to return it to buy a PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System. The Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System comes with two attachment pieces and in general will attach to a variety of different faucets.

Taste of the Filtered Water

Ok, I have to admit I have not really tasted a difference in the water filtered by the PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System or the Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System. Both do a great job removing heavy metals, chlorine, Benzene, and MTBE. One special feature of the PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System is that although it removes all of these negative qualities of local water source, it does leave the fluoride in the water. On a trip to my dentist he told me that drinking filtered water was not as good for my teeth as just drinking the local water due to the lack of fluoride. Boy was it fun telling him about the PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System.

Long Lasting

How long a faucet mount water filter lasts is very important to me because I am very money conscious. The Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System advertises that it will work for up to 100 gallons of filtered water. Now be sure you understand that that is up to 100 gallons. I have lived in places where the water quality was so poor that the Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System did not last long at all. I live in a two person a household, where one member drinks large amounts of water daily, and find that both the PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System and the Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System generally last about two months before they need replacing. It really may be more like 7 weeks, but I do not actually sit down and record the dates.

The PUR Horizontal Faucet Mount Filtration System will cost you about $35.00 while the Brita On Tap Faucet Mount Filtration System will cost you on average about $29.00. I guess the extra five dollars is for the extra attachment piece, which may be well worth it if you have had bad luck in this department before.
