Ten Favorite Bible Verses for Mother’s Day Cards and Letters

Mother’s Day is a popular time to send greeting cards and letters. Cards and letters add a personal touch to the gift you give your mother. In the computer age, your mother will appreciate a hand-written card or letter from you on Mother’s Day. Writing the message yourself makes it more special. If you are not sure what to include, try including Bible verses at the end of your letter or inside of your greeting card. Here are a few of my favorite Bible verses you can use.

“It is more blessed to give than receive.” -Acts 20:35

Here is an appropriate Bible verse for Mother’s Day. Giving your mother a gift should be a joyous occasion even though you might not get anything in return.

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart so let him give, not grudgingly, or of necessity, for God loveth a cheerful giver.”- II Corinthians 9:17

The apostle Paul chastises the Corinthians for their evil doings. The meaning is clear. If you cannot give cheerfully, don’t give.

“That they may teach the young women to be sober, love their husbands, to love their children.” – Titus 2:4

Paul’s personal letters to Titus strongly emphasizes sobriety. These Bible verses are directed to the older men and women. It is the responsibility of parents to teach their children right from wrong.

“A merry heart doeth like good medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”-Proverbs 17:22

If your mother is feeling sad, include this Bible verse in your Mother’s Day card. Studies show laughter has many health benefits. Laughter helps you forget your problems an eases stress.

“But I say unto you love your enemies. Do good to them that hate you.”-Luke 6:27

This is one of the more difficult Bible verses to follow but we need an occasional reminder. It commands us to love our enemies, which can be difficult. If you don’t love your enemies, you are just as bad as they are.

“Bear ye one another’s burdens and fulfill the law of Christ.”- Galatians 6:2

While ill, Paul wrote letters to the Galatians churches. In other words, listen to one another’s problems. Let mother know you are willing to hear her problems through this Bible verse.

“Give us this day our daily bread.” – Luke 11:2

The disciples asked Jesus how to pray and he responded with the Lord’s Prayer. It means we should pray for the necessities in life like food.

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

Many children today aren’t guided in the right directions, which leads to discipline problems and bad decisions. Don’t wait too late to teach right from wrong. Guide them in the right direction while they are young.

“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you, and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” -Isaiah 66:13

Mothers just have the natural ability to comfort us. They console us after a bad dream or after a scraped knee.
I’m not saying fathers can’t comfort a child but it seems mothers are better at some things.

“Behold everyone that uses this proverb, shall use this proverb against the, as is the mother so is her mother.”- Ezekiel 16:44

I don’t think this Bible verse is intended to be humorous but it seems that way at first. Some versions say, “Like mother, like daughter. ” Some translations read “like mother, like daughter. ” Many daughters have characteristics similar to their mothers though they may not admit it.
