Success Jasmine Rice Review

Fragrant Thai Jasmine rice can now be enjoyed in 10 minutes, with boil-in-bag Success rice. The full aromas is there, and the Jasmine rice is a welcome alternative to plain white rice. I’ve always been a fan of Jasmine rice and now I can make it quickly with 10-Minute Success Boil-in-Bag Jasmine Rice.

About Jasmine Rice

Only recently has Jasmine rice made it to the grocery store shelves. About five years ago, the rice was introduced in grocery stores as a gourmet food item, at a gourmet food price. It was packaged in a hard canister, and a couple pounds of Jasmine rice was retailing for between $5 and $10.

Some stores, including certain Big Y locations now carry Success’ version of Jasmine rice. The Success version is the boil-in-bag type, which can be made quickly. While it’s not as convenient as Minute Ready-to-Serve rice cups, it is more convenient that waiting for regular rice to cook.

Flavor

While it’s cooking the 10-Minute Success Boil-in-Bag Jasmine Rice, similar to standard Jasmine rice smells like popcorn. The rice tastes slightly nutty and the flavor can be easily enhanced with sea salt, real butter and freshly ground pepper.

The Jasmine rice is traditionally served with Asian dishes, although it can be served just as easily with lamb kabobs from the grill, BBQ chicken, or as a stuffing in peppers for a vegetarian dish.

Convenience

10-Minute Success Boil-in-Bag Jasmine Rice is convenient because it cooks quickly while boiling on the stove. It can also be cooked in the microwave in a bowl of water.

The 10-Minute Success Boil-in-Bag Jasmine Rice could also be cooked on an outdoor grill with a burner for a water pot.

How Much Rice

There are two servings per bag of 10-Minute Success Boil-in-Bag Jasmine Rice. Each box contains four bags. The box retails for under $3 at some Big Y stores. Not all locations currently carry this product.

Nutrition

Brown rice is more nutritious than Jasmine Rice, particularly in the fiber department. Jasmine Rice does have some nutrients. In each serving of 10-Minute Success Boil-in-Bag Jasmine Rice, there are three grams of protein. Per serving, there is 8 percent of both Iron and Niacin, and 15 percent of both Folic Acid and Thiamine.

As with other rice, 10-Minute Success Boil-in-Bag Jasmine Rice is a carbohydrate-rich food, with 36 grams of carbohydrates per serving.

Drawbacks

Overcooking is Too Easy

When cooking the 10-Minute Success Boil-in-Bag Jasmine Rice, the timing needs to be followed properly. Overcooking the Jasmine Rice will turn this bag of fragrant and fluffy rice into a gelatinous lump of rice.

Hot Package

It can be difficult to cut open the bag of cooked 10-Minute Success Boil-in-Bag Jasmine Rice as the bag and the steam will be hot.
