Suave Kids De-tangling Spray Vs Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles

This article compares two kid’s hair detangling sprays, Suave Kids Detangling Spray and Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles.

Both the Suave Kids Detangling Spray and the Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles smell great. The Suave Kids Detangling Spray says it smells like “Awesome Apple.” It reminds me of green apple candy. Not too sweet, but very pleasant. The Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles says it smells like “Strawberry Sensation.” It does smell a bit like strawberries, but it also smells more like a typical hair product. I guess it can be described as a little more alcohol-smelling than the Suave Kid’s Detangling Spray. My husband preferred the smell of the Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles because he thought it smelled “clean.”

The spray streams are different too. The Suave Kids Detangling Spray comes out in a large mist, and coats the hair evenly. The Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles comes out in a smaller stream, so it takes more pumps to coat the hair. The Johnson’s also left some spots wetter than others, while the Suave did not.

Both the Suave Kids Detangling Spray and the Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles helped significantly with the tangles. It was much easier to comb through the hair, and there were fewer complaints from my children. (Both girls, ages 9 and 5.) One difference I noted: The Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles had more of a slimy feel to it. It was almost like a spray-on conditioner. I was concerned that it would leave my daughter’s hair looking oily, but that fear was unfounded. Instead, once the Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles dried, it left her hair very smooth and soft. The Suave Kids Detangling Spray also made her hair soft, but it still had significant flyaways.

The packaging difference was a bit interesting. The Suave Kids Detangling Spray simply had a plastic cap on the pump. The Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles had the plastic cap, but also had a safety seal around the pump and the plastic cap. I’m not sure of the purpose, or why Johnson’s felt the need to have it, but it’s there nonetheless.

The price difference is fairly large. I paid $2.37 for 10 oz of Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles. I paid $1.87 for 10.5 oz of Suave Kids Detangling Spray. Considering the fact that you have to use more Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles to coat the hair, you really are paying quite a bit more.

I prefer the Suave Kids Detangling Spray. It smells better, takes less to coat the hair, and it’s cheaper. My daughters also preferred the Suave Kids Detangling Spray over the Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles. My 9 year old fixes her own hair most mornings, and she said that the bottle is easier for her to use. Based on both opinions, I would recommend the Suave Kids Detangling Spray over the Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles.
