Stained Glass Headboard Craft Project

To Make a Stained Glass Headboard You Will Need:

Peel and stick lead

Clear plastic shower curtains

White fabric

Stained Glass Paint

Paint Brushed

Scissors

MDF Squares

Staple gun

Foam

To start this Headboard craft project you need to decide on a pattern. Your stained glass Headboard pattern will determine what stained glass paint colors you need to buy.

Measure the bed you are going to transform. See how wide it is.

Mark this space out on a piece of drawing paper and sketch out your design. If you have markers I suggest coloring in areas the colors you would like them to be. The more specific you are in the planning the less room for mistakes.

You should also work in 12-inch squares, so keep that in mind.

You want cut your white fabric and clear shower curtain out to 14-inch squares.

Cut your foam and MDF to 12-inch squares.

Once you have established your stained glass design you need to transfer it to your shower curtain squares. I like to tape the sketch to the inside of the shower curtain squares so that it shows through the front. You can fill in just like a coloring book!

Painting the stained glass Headboard is the next step. Use a natural bristle artist paintbrush to fill in your colors. Work up to the edges in each block of color. You will be covering the rough edges with peel and stick lead, so you don’t have to make them absolutely perfect.

Once your stained glass Headboard squares are completely painted you need to let it dry complete. While your paint is drying your can work on your peel and stick lead.

Remove the sketch from the back of the Headboard squares and use this to cut out your peel and stick lead.

This is a great way to make your stained glass look built in.

Once you lead is cut you can install it. Carefully apply your peel and stick lead over all of the edges, just like real stained glass.

Now, use spray adhesive to attach your foam to each MDF Square.

Lay your stained glass square face down on a flat surface. Now, lay your white fabric face down on top of the stained glass square. Now, lay the foam side of the MDF down on top of that.

Pull the white fabric up and staple gun it to the back of the square. Repeat with the stained glass square.

Repeat on all squares.

Now, use flat L bracket to attach each square together on the back. Just screw them together.

Now, hang the whole thing on your wall with picture hanging hooks!

You can make this stained glass headboard as wide or tall as you want to fit your bed and your room.
