Skin79 VIP Gold Super+ Beblesh Balm Review

I am officially on the BB cream bandwagon. A month ago I didn’t even know what a BB cream was, but after seeing a few BB creams at the drugstore my interest was piqued and I went home to do some research online. After a lot of reading I decided that the Asian brands of BB cream seemed like the better choice for me because apparently they have better coverage and more skin benefits than the North American brands (see links below). Eventually I managed to narrow my choices down to the Korean brand Skin79. It seemed that this brand had everything that I was looking for in a BB cream: good coverage, suitable for acne-prone skin, and it’s supposedly a very light colour (perfect for my super-pale skin). Even though I could’ve simply ordered it online I really wanted to test out the colour on my skin first so I was trying to find a store nearby that carried this brand. Not an easy task in Edmonton, AB. Two weeks ago though I finally found a store that carried it and after testing out the colour on my hand I purchased the Skin79 VIP Gold Super+ Beblesh Balm.

According to the box the Skin79 VIP Gold Super+ BB cream is supposed to be wrinkle-improving, whitening, has an SPF of 25, and provides beneficial nutrients for the skin. While I have only sampled a couple of BB creams before, I absolutely love this one. The cream provides good coverage over pimples and imperfections and yet still feels light on the skin. Unlike regular foundations it doesn’t feel thick and greasy when applied. It goes on very smooth and I find that it doesn’t get streaky or settle into pores and fine lines like my foundation does. Even though I only use a small amount (one pump) it perfectly covers redness and makes my pores practically invisible. It goes on slightly grey at first, but after blending it matches my skin tone perfectly. It doesn’t even look like I’m wearing makeup at all.

I do find the finish to be a bit shiny for me. I unfortunately have very greasy skin on my forehead and nose so I think I would prefer more of a matte finish, but this one is surprisingly not too bad. I usually put powder over top the BB cream, and while my skin does look slightly shiny, it’s a bit more of a glow-y look rather than just plain greasy. It also provides continuous all day coverage, even after going to the gym my skin still looks nice and even (not red, blotchy and sweaty like it usually does). I’ve also noticed that after using this product for a couple of weeks my skin is starting to look better even after I take the BB cream off. My pores are visibly smaller, my forehead looks smoother and some of the redness and uneven skin tone that I usually have is starting to look more even.

So not only does this BB cream look great while it’s on, it’s also actually improving my skin at the same time! The only thing that I would change is that I would prefer if it had a bit more oil control to help make my face look more matte. Skin79 does have another BB cream that is for more oily, acne prone skin (the Hot Pink Super Plus Beblesh Balm). I ordered it from the Skin79 North America website the other day and I’m hoping that it will be just as good as this VIP Gold, but maybe also give me a more matte look. I would definitely recommend finding a BB cream that’s right for you.

Dec 28th update: I have been using the Skin79 Hot Pink Super Plus Beblesh Balm for a couple of months now and it really is better suited for oily skin. It has thicker coverage which camouflages redness and imperfections a bit better than the VIP Gold. It also keeps my face looking less shiny throughout the day. The only problem with the Hot Pink is that on the less oily areas of my face my skin can get a bit dry and flaky, but using a richer moisturizer on these areas seems to balance things out.
