Product Review: Avon’s Smooth Mineral

I have been using Avon’s Smooth Mineral foundation which is similar to the more famous Bare Essentials bareMinerals make up, for about six months now. I decided to give it a try because Avon’s product is about $10 a jar while Bare Essentials is $25. While I have never tried Bare Essentials, I find Avon’s Smooth Mineral foundation to look better and be easier to apply than my old liquid foundation.

The Smooth Mineral make up comes in seven different colors. They make blush and eye shadow as well. Avon claims that their product works well on all skin types and I believe them because my skin is completely different in the summer than the winter. It is able to absorb oil in the summer and does not flake off of my dry skin in the winter.

This product definitely saves me time in the morning. It combines concealer, foundation, and powder all into one step that is pretty much impossible to mess up. Several people have said they had to mix two shades together to get the right shade for their skin but I did not have this problem. I really like that it doesn’t make my skin look pink like some other foundations do.

The powder is very lightweight and feels like I am not even wearing makeup. I use it year round but it’s great in the summer when you don’t want layers caked on your face.

I bought a good, natural hair brush which makes applying this stuff very easy. Simply put some on the brush and sweep across your face. I do tend to make a little bit of a mess in the bathroom but if you do it over the sink it’s not a problem to clean up. It stays on all day so I do not have to carry it with me to do touch ups at lunchtime like some other kinds of makeup.

I believe this would be great for girls who are just starting to wear makeup because it is so simple to put on and looks like you aren’t even wearing anything. I think older women would appreciate it as well if they are have poor eyesight and have trouble seeing what they are applying.

I would recommend this product for anyone because of the great look it gives. It makes skin smooth and covers up imperfections at the same time.
