Play-Doh Themed Party Favors for Kids

Are you thinking about planning a Play-Doh themed party for your son or daughter this year? If so, you may want to take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to check out my Play-Doh themed party favor ideas. Here they are:

Containers of Play-Doh

Little containers of Play-Doh would undoubtedly make an excellent party favor. You could opt to purchase a 10-pack of individual Play-Doh cans through party supply shops like Party America for $6 or make your own. Personally, I believe that nowadays the store bought containers of Play-Doh are more economical for party purposes than homemade Play-Doh. Think about it. In order to make homemade Play-Doh, you’ll need at least a 5 pound bag of flour ($5), a box of table salt ($8), a container of cream of tartar ($6), a bottle of vegetable oil ($6) and water. You’ll also need to invest in bags or containers to put the homemade Play-Doh in. Specific instructions on how to make homemade Play-Doh are available elsewhere online.

Play-Doh Tools

If you are going to hand out containers of Play-Doh, you may as well hand out Play-Doh tools as well. You may opt to purchase packages of Play-Doh tools through discount stores for around $3 or purchase individual tools for $1 apiece. I’d suggest that you try and buy individual cookie cutters and tools at the dollar store. In my experience, it tends to be the cheapest alternative because sometimes you can get two cookie cutters for $1.

Artist Aprons

In my experience, children’s aprons would also make superlative party favors. Many craft stores and party supply shops sell a dozen children’s aprons for less than $13. I’d suggest that you consider personalizing the aprons with the party guest’s names. You could personalize the aprons by sewing the children’s names on the fabric or using a quick-drying fabric pen. A package of six fabric markers will typically cost you $7.

Marshmallow Candy

Last but not least, you may want to consider giving the children marshmallow or gummy candies that resemble something made out of Play-Doh. Of course you’ll want to make sure that if you do go that route that the kids are old enough to realize the difference between edible candy and non-edible Play-Doh. Examples include mini hot dog marshmallows, fast food suckers and mini marshmallow cupcakes. You can traditionally purchase all three through Oriental Trading and other party supply shops for less than $5 a dozen.
