Pita’s Republic Tuna Pita Melt Review

Pita’s Republic’s tuna pita melt is one of many delicious healthy pita sandwiches on their menu.

Pita’s Republic, 3970 Tampa Road, Oldsmar, Florida, has an interesting menu that includes gyros, lower carb pita pockets, wraps and salads.

Pita’s Republic has 10 locations in Florida. The company opened in 1990.

For my Pita’s Republic review, I taste-tested the tuna pita melt. The pita melt, made with a pita flat, can also be ordered with chicken or turkey.

The pita flat used for the Pita tuna melt was the fluffy, thick kind also used for Gyros. The pita was served with lettuce, tomatoes and purple onions. Optional items would have included sprouts, cucumbers, olives, hot peppers, pickles and banana peppers.

The tuna pita melt was heated up and served in a foil wrapper to keep it steaming hot until I got home. I was extremely impressed with the Pita’s Republic tuna pita melt.

Pita’s Republic Nutritional Information

In terms of calories, and nutrition, here is the break down for the Pita’s Republic Tuna Pita Melt:

No. 1: Pita’s Republic pita flat: 297 calories, 11 grams of protein, 1 gram of fat and 3 grams of fiber.

No. 2: Pita’s Republic tuna: The tuna itself has 205 calories, 23.5 grams of protein and 10 grams of fat as well as 2 grams of fiber.

No. 3: Pita’s Republic cheese: If you had the Swiss American cheese on your melt, add another 100 calories and 9 grams of fat, but I skipped the cheese for my review.

No. 4: Pita’s Republic toppings: The lettuce had 4 calories; the tomatoes had 10 calories and the onions had 15 calories.

The Pita’s Republic calories are not as high as fast food. But to lower the calorie count at Pita’s Republic, order the pita pocket instead which has only 78 calories and zero fat. Their tuna melt recipe pairs nicely with a side of fruit salad or potato salad.

In terms of taste for my Pita’s Republic Review of theTuna Pita melt, I give it 4.9 out of 5 stars, but for dieters, I highly recommend the “Guilt Free Tuna” from the deli cut pitas section instead.
