Our Full-Time Motor Home Living Adventure – Part II

We have been at the Huggy Bear Campground in our new motor home (see below) since the day after our sale while we worked to sell mom’s home and get ready for her household goods auction. To make a long story short, we have sold her house and we just finished with her auction around 6:00 pm this evening. It’s been a busy month for both us and my sister who has worked the hardest at getting mom’s house and stuff ready for her sale. We got her moved into a retirement community complex last Monday and she’s all settled in and doing well.

We have had a good time here at the Huggy Bear Campground. It’s interesting, as during the weekend most of the ‘seasonal’ campers show up and the first thing they do is light up their campfires (even when it’s 95 deg) and they never let them burn out for the whole weekend. So we basically just shut up the motorhome and turn on the air to stay away from all the smoke. Not sure what some of the people are burning, but they should really try burning good firewood for a change.

Then on Sunday afternoons they all leave and we basically have the whole campground to ourselves, along with a number of ‘full-timers’ that pull in a stay a couple of days and move on. We have met some really nice people – some winter in Arizona and the rest in Texas. It’s been interesting to talk with them and compare notes, etc.

The biggest thing at the campground is all the golf carts. One of the hot rods are shown below. We are parked on a corner lot and it is literally a ‘Golf Cart Parade’ all weekend long. No one is going anywhere, but just driving around the campground, drinking, and seeing what everyone else is doing. It’s going to be so good to get to our RV Resort in Texas where they don’t allow campfires or golf carts.

We had a couple of cookout during our stay for some family members. We had my cousin and her husband over along with my sister and her husband along with my mother. We all had a good time visiting with them. We also were able to have our son up and eat & visit with him before we took off. We also drove over to see our granddaughter Jackie and our new great-grandson Kalman a couple of times. He’s going to be tall like his dad as he’s over 22 inches already and looking fine.

We’re leaving tomorrow morning for Toledo. We have a number of dates with friends to visit & eat with them. I’m also going over to the company building where I worked just before I retired to visit with a couple of old cronies who are still stuck with working. I just read an announcement that they have sold their corporate headquarters as part of the bankruptcy settlements.

We’ll be staying here for the weekend and then heading out to Utah to visit our daughter.
